Job Overview: The Programme Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the design, planning, and management of UNFPA’s country programme. This position involves managing data inputs, providing logistical support, monitoring project implementation, and following up on recommendations. The Programme Associate will report directly to the Project Coordination Specialist and will be instrumental in facilitating the implementation of UNFPA’s country programme and projects, particularly in the areas of population and development, reproductive health, and gender. The role requires the application of established systems and procedures, as well as the creation of knowledge through the compilation, synthesis, and analysis of relevant information. The Programme Associate will also ensure compliance with procedures and assist in the development of appropriate mechanisms and systems.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Associate will be responsible for several key duties, including: participating in the formulation of the country programme and component projects by compiling and analyzing relevant information, drafting project documents, and preparing statistical data; supporting the evaluation of project and programme activities by establishing assessment methods and recommending corrective actions; conducting field visits and participating in review meetings and evaluation missions; guiding the routine implementation of assigned projects in coordination with national counterparts; providing logistical support for project-related meetings, workshops, and events; training and guiding project personnel on national execution and programme policies; supporting advocacy and resource mobilization efforts by maintaining a network of donor contacts; assisting in organizing donor meetings and public information events; and implementing knowledge management strategies to capture lessons learned and best practices.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess completed Secondary Level Education as a minimum requirement, with a first-level university degree being desirable. Additionally, candidates should have seven years of relevant experience in programme or project management, along with proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT systems. The role requires strong competencies in advocacy, communication, and results mobilization, as well as the ability to leverage resources and build strategic partnerships.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes completed Secondary Level Education as a mandatory qualification. A first-level university degree is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in programme or project management. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to effectively manage projects, coordinate with various stakeholders, and achieve results in a complex environment.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, although English is the primary language of communication within UNFPA.
