Job Overview:
The position of Data Enumerator for the Mobility Tracking Matrix (MTM) involves supporting the implementation of a comprehensive data collection system designed to monitor and analyze migration trends in Kyrgyzstan. The MTM is a critical tool that captures and disseminates information about the movements and evolving needs of various mobile populations. The enumerators will be responsible for conducting interviews with key informants, ensuring data accuracy and completeness, and adhering to IOM's guidelines and ethical standards. This role requires a commitment to understanding the complexities of migration and the ability to engage with diverse communities across the country.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Enumerators will conduct Key Informants Interviews (KIIs) with community leaders, religious leaders, diaspora representatives, and other stakeholders. They will ensure data accuracy by conducting follow-up interviews and taking photographs with consent. Compliance with IOM guidelines during data collection is crucial, including conducting interviews in the native language of the interviewers when possible. Enumerators will develop fieldwork plans, coordinate with field supervisors, and ensure all necessary equipment is prepared for data collection. They will maintain detailed records of daily activities, validate information through cross-checking, and submit completed survey forms into the KOBO system. Additionally, enumerators will document any challenges encountered during fieldwork.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups. They should possess a keen attention to detail and a commitment to ethical data collection practices. Familiarity with data collection tools and methodologies is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively in both Kyrgyz and Russian. Experience in community engagement and a background in social sciences or related fields will be advantageous.
Educational Background:
A minimum of a high school diploma is required, with preference given to candidates who have completed higher education in social sciences, statistics, or a related field. Training in data collection methodologies or previous experience in similar roles will be considered an asset.
Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in data collection, community engagement, or research-related activities. Experience working with vulnerable populations or in humanitarian contexts will be highly regarded. Familiarity with the local context and migration issues in Kyrgyzstan is also beneficial.
Languages:
Fluency in Kyrgyz and Russian is mandatory, as these are the primary languages used in the field. Proficiency in English is considered a plus, especially for communication with international stakeholders and in business contexts.

This position is a volunteer role under the UN Volunteer program, and it may involve travel within Kyrgyzstan for data collection purposes.
