The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO) play a crucial role in this reform, led by an empowered UN Resident Coordinator who represents the UN Secretary-General at the country level. The Development Operations Coordination Office (DCO) was transformed into a stand-alone office to oversee the resident coordinator system, ensuring it is optimally configured to support the acceleration of the 2030 Agenda. The DCO focuses on strategic partnerships that advance the SDGs, emphasizing data, digital innovation, and a mission-driven culture.
Job Overview:
The Partnerships Officer is a pivotal role within the UN Resident Coordination Office in Kuwait City, responsible for providing strategic support to the Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team (UNCT) in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This position involves advising on the development and implementation of the UN Partnership Strategy, facilitating partnerships with civil society, the private sector, and other stakeholders. The officer will coordinate efforts to mobilize resources, monitor partnerships, and ensure effective communication among various UN entities and external partners. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for collaboration and resource mobilization, as well as a commitment to promoting gender equality and inclusivity in all initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in strategic support to partnerships, project/programme management, and resource mobilization in development cooperation. Experience in designing and implementing partnerships, preparing project proposals, and developing strategic partnerships across various sectors is essential. Familiarity with inclusion strategies promoting gender equality and youth participation is desirable, as is experience in UN interagency coordination and financing for the SDGs.
Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, sustainable development, social sciences, education, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Completion of programs in data analytics or business analytics is an advantage.
Experience:
A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required, with a track record in strategic support to partnerships and resource mobilization. Candidates should have experience in project/programme management and developing partnerships across government, private sector, and civil society organizations. Experience in knowledge management within development cooperation is also desirable, along with familiarity with financing strategies for the SDGs.
Languages:
English and Arabic are required for this position. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in both languages at UN Level II. Knowledge of French is an asset but not mandatory.

This is a Fixed Term position for a duration of one year, with no expectation of renewal. The position is open to nationals of Kuwait only, and candidates must be recruited within the country or commuting distance of the office. - Assist in providing substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UNCT strategic partnerships with civil society and the private sector for SDG achievement. - Participate in joint partnership and resource mobilization initiatives, providing support for the management of pooled funds for the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. This involves developing resource mobilization strategies, analyzing funding streams, and preparing proposals.
- Work closely with the Resident Coordinator Office Economist and finance experts to promote partnerships that support financing for the SDGs, including preparing briefing papers and contributing to advocacy efforts.
- Contribute to knowledge management and capacity development related to partnerships and resource mobilization, promoting collaboration and sharing best practices within the UN system.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned, ensuring effective engagement with stakeholders and the implementation of innovative proposals to enhance UNCT engagement and reputation.
