Job Overview:
The Policy Ecosystem Analyst will play a crucial role in conducting policy research and analysis to support the i-Work program, which focuses on creating internship opportunities for young women in Ethiopia. This position involves preparing policy briefs that will inform and guide the program's engagement with youth internships, workforce development, and inclusive civil service reforms. The role requires a deep understanding of the socio-economic landscape in Ethiopia, as well as the ability to analyze data and evidence to influence policy decisions. The analyst will collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to ensure that the program's objectives align with national priorities and contribute to sustainable development goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess a master's degree or equivalent in Public Policy, Public Administration, Economics, Development Studies, Political Science, International Relations, Law, or a related field. A bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by exceptional relevant experience. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to synthesize complex information, and experience in policy research and advocacy. Familiarity with the Ethiopian socio-economic context and previous work in development or policy analysis is highly desirable.
Educational Background:
Candidates are required to have a master's degree in a relevant field such as Public Policy, Public Administration, Economics, Development Studies, Political Science, International Relations, or Law. A bachelor's degree may be considered if the candidate has significant relevant experience that compensates for the lack of a master's degree. Educational qualifications should reflect a strong foundation in research methodologies and policy analysis.
Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in policy research, analysis, or advocacy, preferably within the context of youth employment or workforce development. Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, or international organizations in Ethiopia or similar contexts is highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of producing high-quality research outputs and engaging with diverse stakeholders.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all reports and communications will be conducted in English. Proficiency in Amharic or other local languages is considered an asset, as it will facilitate engagement with local stakeholders and communities.
