Job Overview:
The Chai Analyst position is crucial for the effective implementation and continuous improvement of project activities related to tuberculosis (TB) management in India. The Analyst will report administratively to the State Manager and technically to the Associate at the national level. This role involves ensuring adherence to the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework, processes, and tools, which are essential for tracking progress, measuring outcomes, and generating insights for strategic decision-making. The Analyst will collaborate closely with program teams, government stakeholders, and implementing partners to facilitate systematic data collection, analysis, and reporting. Responsibilities include designing user-friendly M&E tools, maintaining high-quality project databases, preparing monthly performance reports, and supporting evaluations and field validations. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to engaging with key implementation partners while managing large-scale project data.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
A full-time master’s degree in science, Management, Public Health, Economics, or data science is required. Candidates should have basic exposure to at least one of the tools such as Stata, R, or Python (Pandas, NumPy), defined as having completed any project using these tools during work or academics. A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in analytics or research, preferably in public health areas, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work with government administrative data systems, with experience in extracting, restructuring, and analyzing data from platforms like Nikshay being preferred. Additionally, candidates should be comfortable using Gen AI tools to create data dashboards and forecasting calculators, and have experience in designing qualitative research and producing analytic summaries from field interviews or dipstick enquiries.
Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a full-time master’s degree in a relevant field such as science, Management, Public Health, Economics, or data science. This educational background is essential to ensure that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to perform effectively in the role of Chai Analyst.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in analytics or research, particularly in public health areas. Candidates should have demonstrated experience working with government administrative data systems and should be capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively in a fast-paced environment. Experience in extracting, restructuring, and analyzing data from platforms like Nikshay is preferred, as is experience in designing qualitative research and producing analytic summaries from field interviews.
Languages:
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi are mandatory for this position. Candidates should be able to articulate reports, notes, and findings for a variety of audiences, ensuring effective communication of complex data insights and project outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Routine Programme M&E: Operationalize M&E frameworks, tools, and protocols designed by the National M&E team, adapting them for state-level implementation contexts. Support implementation teams and M&E Officers in aligning activities with work plans and monitoring frameworks. Maintain folder and repository structures for all programme data, tools, and documentation in line with programme goals; ensure version control and access discipline across state and district teams.
- Data Systems and Pipeline Management: Develop working familiarity with data systems, including Tuberculosis-related data; understand their structure, limitations, and analytical use. Maintain and debug data pipelines for processing programme data exports into analysis-ready formats. Conduct regular data cleaning, structuring, and quality checks on programme data.
- Analysis and Reporting: Prepare monthly indicator reports and track progress against key indicators at the state level. Manage reporting timeliness for the state; own the monthly reporting calendar, ensuring all data flows from district and TBU levels meet deadlines, and cascade timeliness accountability to M&E Officers. Synthesize findings and disseminate key learnings through presentations, reports, and briefs for state and national audiences.
- Qualitative Enquiry and Field Validation: Design and administer qualitative dipstick protocols for specialized areas of programme enquiry, including tool design, respondent selection, and data collection supervision. Conduct or supervise field visits and produce structured summary notes and analytic outputs from qualitative interactions.
- Capacity Building and Technical Support: Guide and mentor M&E Officers on various application tool use, data entry discipline, reporting, and field validation protocols. Support programmatic activities, including training for the improvement of recording and reporting systems.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with programme teams, government counterparts, and district partners to align data strategies and refine interventions. Support evidence-based communication through actionable data insights.
