Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer for social media will play a pivotal role in supporting the OHCHR New York Office's communications and advocacy efforts. This position involves close collaboration with the Public Information Officer (PIO) and other relevant colleagues to enhance the visibility of the UN Human Rights Office's work through social media platforms. The volunteer will be responsible for creating engaging social media content that highlights OHCHR's advocacy initiatives, reports, statements, campaigns, and events. This role is essential for promoting awareness and understanding of human rights issues and the work being done to address them.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Online Volunteer include:

• Creating three social media posts per week that effectively promote OHCHR's advocacy initiatives, reports, statements, campaigns, and events.
• Researching and selecting appropriate images to accompany the social media posts, ensuring that the visuals align with the content and message being conveyed.
• Collaborating with the Public Information Officer and other team members to brainstorm and develop creative content ideas that resonate with the target audience.
• Monitoring social media engagement and feedback to assess the impact of the posts and adjust strategies as necessary.
• Staying informed about current human rights issues and OHCHR's activities to ensure that the content is relevant and timely.
• Assisting in the development of visual communications materials that support OHCHR's overall communication strategy.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:

• Strong understanding of social media platforms and their role in communication and advocacy.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to create clear and engaging content tailored to diverse audiences.
• Familiarity with human rights issues and the work of the United Nations, particularly OHCHR.
• Proficiency in using graphic design tools and software to create visually appealing content.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
Candidates should ideally have a background in communications, public relations, social media management, or a related field. Experience:
