Job Overview:
The Project Facilitation Officer will play a crucial role in the implementation of the i-Work program, which focuses on training and workforce development activities aimed at enhancing employability among young people in Bahir Dar. This position involves coordinating various initiatives such as market-aligned skills training, work readiness programs, internships, mentoring, and work-based learning opportunities. A significant emphasis will be placed on supporting young women and disadvantaged youth, ensuring that the training provided aligns with market needs and fosters inclusivity. The officer will work closely with local stakeholders, including employers and vocational training institutions, to facilitate effective training delivery and create pathways for youth employment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as education, social sciences, or development studies. Strong experience in training design and delivery, particularly in the context of youth skills development or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is essential. Experience in conducting training needs assessments, curriculum development, and facilitating training sessions is highly desirable. Candidates should also demonstrate strong local stakeholder engagement skills and a commitment to gender and inclusion principles.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position, preferably in education, social sciences, or a related field. Additional certifications or training in areas related to youth development, employability skills, or vocational training would be advantageous.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have substantial experience in training design and delivery, with a focus on youth employability and skills development. Experience working with disadvantaged youth and understanding the challenges they face in accessing training and employment opportunities is crucial. Familiarity with the local labor market and existing vocational training programs in Bahir Dar will be beneficial.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Bahir Dar would be an advantage, as it would facilitate better communication with participants and stakeholders.
