Job Overview:
The Senior director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Director is responsible for the overall technical direction and quality accountability for various global health programs or projects. This role involves setting the technical strategy, managing technical resources, and ensuring that all technical deliverables meet the required standards before reaching donors. The Senior Technical Director serves as a strategic leader within FHI 360, overseeing multiple technical portfolios and initiatives, and providing technical oversight to a division comprised of technical teams. The position requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to gather and share evidence, lessons learned, and best practices, driving continuous improvement and organizational impact. The Senior Technical Director is expected to provide leadership, guidance, and innovation in technical quality and knowledge management, ensuring that the organization meets its objectives and contributes to sustainable development goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Technical Director's responsibilities include setting the technical strategy for various health pillars, allocating technical resources, and holding final technical sign-off on workplans and deliverables. They are responsible for ensuring that technical approaches are grounded in current normative guidance and that FHI 360's technical positions are updated accordingly. The role involves navigating complex challenges in project implementation, offering strategic direction, and recommending actionable solutions to enhance project effectiveness. Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and expertise in program implementation methodologies. They should demonstrate proficiency in organizational leadership practices, strategic planning, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. A proven track record of driving innovation and achieving impactful outcomes is essential. Minimum qualifications include a Master’s Degree or its international equivalent in Public Health, Medicine, Epidemiology, or Health Systems, along with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in project management or 9 years with a PhD. Candidates should have at least 8 years of experience in leadership and line management, with proven experience leading complex, strategic portfolios of programs/projects on a national or international scale.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s Degree or its international equivalent in relevant fields such as Public Health, Medicine, Epidemiology, or Health Systems. A Doctoral degree (DrPH, PhD, or MD with public health training) is preferred, particularly for candidates with significant experience in senior technical leadership roles.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in project management, overseeing complex projects and initiatives, or 9 years with a PhD. Candidates should have at least 8 years of experience in leadership and line management, with a proven track record of managing complex, strategic portfolios of programs/projects on a national or international scale. Significant experience working in non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is also required.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in French is preferred due to the country portfolio. Knowledge of Portuguese is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for this role.

The role may require approximately 25% travel to engage with stakeholders, oversee project implementation, and attend relevant meetings and events. The typical physical demands include working in an office environment, using a computer and other office machinery, and remaining stationary for extended periods. The compensation band for this position aligns with the US salary structure, with a hiring salary range of USD 160,000 - 190,00
