Job Overview:
The Community Engagement and Inclusion Officer position is part of a United Nations Volunteer (UNV) assignment that focuses on enhancing community and youth engagement through inclusive and participatory approaches. The role is designed to support the meaningful involvement of youth, civil society organizations, and community networks in public health initiatives. The officer will work closely with WHO Iraq, relevant ministries, and community stakeholders to promote social inclusion and empower vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities. The position aims to coordinate community mobilization efforts, raise awareness, and implement initiatives that foster community participation and resilience, ensuring equitable access to health services and opportunities. This role is crucial in aligning community engagement strategies with national health and development priorities, thereby contributing to the overall goal of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Iraq.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Community Engagement and Inclusion Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at strengthening community participation and promoting inclusive engagement. Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of community and youth engagement activities in collaboration with WHO Iraq and relevant stakeholders.
• Facilitating dialogue and collaboration among committees and platforms focused on vulnerable populations and disability inclusion.
• Developing and disseminating health awareness and risk communication materials.
• Assisting in the implementation of health promotion and community engagement campaigns.
• Supporting outreach and engagement activities with youth groups, schools, universities, and civil society organizations.
• Promoting community participation in public health initiatives and awareness programs.
• Organizing meetings, workshops, trainings, and community events.
• Contributing to coordination, documentation, reporting, and data collection activities.
• Identifying innovative and youth-led approaches to enhance public health awareness and community engagement. 1
• Supporting advocacy efforts related to inclusion, healthy behaviors, and community empowerment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Community Engagement and Inclusion Officer position should possess a range of qualifications that demonstrate their ability to effectively engage with communities and promote inclusive practices. Required qualifications include:

• Strong understanding of community engagement principles and practices, particularly in the context of public health.
• Experience working with youth, civil society organizations, and marginalized groups.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate dialogue among diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of health promotion strategies and community mobilization techniques.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate for the Community Engagement and Inclusion Officer position should have a relevant educational background that supports their role in public health and community engagement. A bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, community development, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage, as it demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills in health systems and community engagement strategies.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in community engagement, public health, or related fields. Experience working with vulnerable populations, including persons with disabilities, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the health system in Iraq and previous involvement in health promotion initiatives will be considered an asset. The ability to demonstrate successful outcomes from previous community engagement projects will strengthen the candidate's application.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate better engagement with local communities and stakeholders. Additional languages relevant to the region may also be beneficial.

Additional Notes:
This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment, which means that the selected candidate will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. National UN Volunteers receive a monthly living allowance to support a basic and safe lifestyle, which is set at USD 1724.1

• Additional allowances include a danger and hardship differential of USD 517.24, a one-time entry lump sum of USD 350, and an exit allowance of $120 for each month served, payable upon successful completion of the assignment. Volunteers are also entitled to annual and learning leaves, medical and life insurance, and free access to various learning platforms. It is important to note that these allowances are not considered compensation for work but are intended to cover basic living costs.
