Job Overview:
The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Programme Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of UNFPA's ongoing work in Sierra Leone related to advocacy, policy formulation, and accountability concerning GBV. This position involves working closely with multi-sectoral government institutions and civil society organizations, particularly those focused on women's and youth issues. The Specialist will be responsible for the effective implementation of the Essential Services Package for women and girls who have experienced violence, ensuring that interventions are comprehensive and aligned with UNFPA's Minimum Standards for Prevention and Response to GBV. The role also includes developing strategic partnerships and contributing to funding proposals to support UNFPA's cooperation in GBV initiatives in Sierra Leone.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of gender-based violence issues, particularly in the context of Sierra Leone. They should have experience in program development and implementation, as well as advocacy and resource mobilization. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment.
Educational Background:
A master's degree in social sciences, public health, gender studies, international development, or a related field is required. Additional training or certifications in GBV prevention and response, as well as experience in humanitarian settings, will be considered an asset.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health, or related areas. Experience working with UN agencies or international NGOs is highly desirable, particularly in program management and coordination roles.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Sierra Leone would be an advantage, as it would facilitate communication with local communities and stakeholders.
Additional Notes:
This position is based in Freetown, Sierra Leone, which is a family duty station. The living conditions in Freetown are generally safe, with a reasonable cost of living for expatriates. The role may involve travel within the country to support program implementation in targeted districts. The position is full-time, and candidates should be prepared to adapt to the dynamic needs of the organization.

- Operational Adaptability: Remain flexible to the dynamic needs of the Country Office, performing additional duties as assigned by the UNFPA Representative.
