Job Overview:
The Investment Officer position is situated within the Infrastructure Finance Division 1 (PSIF1) of the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD) at ADB. The role is crucial for providing technical support and coordination in the processing of ADB's private sector investments and technical assistance. The Investment Officer will engage in the identification, development, approval, and implementation of private sector infrastructure financing projects. This position requires active collaboration with colleagues across various functions within ADB, particularly in the India Resident Mission (INRM), to foster knowledge sharing and contribute to a wide range of initiatives focused on India and the broader region. The Investment Officer will also be responsible for building effective working relationships and leveraging cross-functional partnerships to support operational and strategic objectives, ensuring that ADB's mission to alleviate poverty and promote sustainable development is achieved.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Investment Officer will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including:
  • Project Origination: Staying informed about the infrastructure sector, including projects, regulations, and potential borrowers. Identifying new opportunities for ADB financing and assessing their bankability and executability. Pursuing clients to secure financing mandates to initiate transaction processing.
  • Project Processing: Participating in the identification, development, and processing of projects, leading due diligence, financial and risk analysis, and structuring loans, bonds, equity investments, guarantees, or other forms of assistance. Independently applying risk management practices, supporting negotiations, and leading technical, credit, and financial work streams. Developing financial models, analyzing financial statements, and conducting sensitivity analysis and stress testing. Preparing necessary documentation throughout the project processing cycle and engaging with the Office of Risk Management and Safeguards Specialists.
  • Strategy and Planning: Contributing to the development of policies and strategies for ADB's private sector developmental goals in consultation with stakeholders and assisting in developing a pipeline of private sector infrastructure projects.
  • Other Tasks: Performing additional tasks as assigned, guiding administrative staff, and facilitating work planning and quality review of deliverables.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or accounting, preferably with advanced training. They should have at least 8 years of relevant experience in project finance or corporate finance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to conduct research and analysis on complex tasks, organize data effectively, and apply appropriate computer skills for data analysis. Strong analytical thinking skills, effective report-writing, and communication skills in English are essential. The candidate should also be a collaborative team member, contributing positively to team dynamics.

Educational Background:
