Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Human Rights Communications Associate position should possess strong research and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex human rights issues effectively. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of human rights and international humanitarian law, as well as experience in communications or public relations. Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication strategies is also highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, international relations, human rights, or a related field is required for the Human Rights Communications Associate position. Advanced degrees or specialized training in human rights or communications may be advantageous and could enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of human rights or humanitarian issues, is highly valued. Familiarity with the political and social landscape of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and the broader Middle East region will be considered an asset.
Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, as it is the official language of the region. Proficiency in English is also essential, as it is widely spoken and used in professional settings, particularly in Amman. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not required.

The position is a UN Volunteer assignment, which may involve specific conditions of service, including entitlements and benefits applicable to UN Volunteers. - Supporting the drafting of reports, communications, briefings, statements, and advocacy materials for various media outlets.
- Compiling information and communication products for print, broadcast, and social media, including press releases and media packages.
- Maintaining OHCHR OPT public statements, press releases, reports, and correspondence, as well as organizing files and records.
- Assisting in the production and distribution of information materials, conducting photo and graphic research, and providing creative input on content and design.
- Preparing responses to inquiries and drafting related correspondence.
- Supporting content migration and maintenance of the OPT office’s website.
- Performing other relevant duties as required, including collaborating with the supervisor to finalize a work plan outlining key objectives and activities.
