The Guest House Assistant position is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the guesthouse under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant and guidance from the Senior Operations Officer. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Guest House Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: managing guest bookings and inquiries through various channels; monitoring room occupancy and implementing strategies to maximize revenue; collaborating with housekeeping to prepare rooms for guests; maintaining accurate records of guest information and payments; conducting regular inspections of guesthouse facilities; supervising housekeeping activities and inventory management; coordinating with the management team to identify process improvements; overseeing service requests and ensuring compliance with service agreements; supporting the Administrative Assistant with purchasing; organizing events and receptions; supervising outsourced staff; preparing requisitions and purchase orders; and performing any additional tasks as assigned.

Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of Arabic or other local languages would be considered an asset, enhancing the ability to communicate effectively with guests and staff.
Additional Notes:
This position is classified as a Category E hardship duty station and is a non-family duty station. The Rest and Recuperation (R&R) cycle for Port Sudan is 4 weeks, and movement of international staff is restricted to UN vehicles. Working in Sudan requires a mature level of cultural awareness and the ability to adapt to potentially hazardous conditions. As this is an international UN Volunteer specialist assignment, the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing. International UN Volunteers receive a living allowance to support a basic and safe lifestyle, which varies based on local living costs.
