Job Overview:
The Field Medic position is crucial for the successful implementation of the Danish Refugee Council's humanitarian mine action program, which was launched in July 202

• This program focuses on non-technical survey (NTS) and explosive ordnance risk education (EORE) in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. The Field Medic will play a vital role in providing medical support to field teams and ensuring that all health-related concerns are addressed effectively. The position requires a dedicated individual who can work under pressure and in challenging environments, as the role involves direct support to teams operating in remote and potentially volatile areas. The Field Medic will be responsible for maintaining high standards of medical care and ensuring that all personnel are adequately trained and equipped to handle medical emergencies. This role is not only about providing immediate medical assistance but also involves strategic oversight and collaboration with other team members to enhance the overall safety and health of the operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Medic will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing emergency medical aid to deployed teams in accordance with IMAS ICP level requirements; offering medical support and guidance on health-related concerns; maintaining oversight and updates on all medical matters for the Operations Manager; ensuring that NTS/EORE teams are fully equipped and trained according to DRC HDP SOP on Medical Support in Mine Action; verifying that all staff are qualified and competent for their assigned duties; maintaining accurate reporting mechanisms and producing timely records and reports on all medical activities; conducting regular casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) drills in coordination with the Technical Field Manager and Team Leader; providing direction, supervision, and advice regarding health and medical issues; and supporting the Operations Manager in investigating accidents or incidents, ensuring all relevant medical reports are compiled accurately.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a BA Degree in Nursing and have at least 3 years of relevant work experience. Previous experience in NTS/EORE or other mine action specialism is desirable, as is experience working for non-governmental organizations. Candidates should also have a strong understanding of current health care legislation and regulations, and be proficient in using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The ability to work in remote and volatile areas is essential, as is a commitment to the values and mission of the Danish Refugee Council.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Degree in Nursing. Candidates must also possess any relevant certificates or licenses that demonstrate their qualifications to practice as a nurse in the field. This educational background is critical to ensure that the Field Medic can provide the necessary medical support and guidance to the teams in the field.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, particularly in areas related to nursing and emergency medical care. Experience in non-technical survey (NTS) and explosive ordnance risk education (EORE) is highly desirable, as it directly relates to the responsibilities of the Field Medic. Candidates should also have a proven track record of working in challenging environments, particularly in the humanitarian sector, which will be beneficial for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in Tigrigna is mandatory, as it is the primary language spoken in the region where the Field Medic will operate.
