Job Overview:
The Programme Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of WFP's programs at the district level. This position involves working closely with the District Education Sport Bureau (DESB) and requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government and community partners. The Programme Assistant will be responsible for verifying food distribution processes, coordinating information sharing, and collecting program data to support informed decision-making. This role is essential for ensuring that WFP's operations align with its standards and effectively meet the needs of the communities served. The Programme Assistant will also provide training and guidance to government counterparts, helping to strengthen their capacity for program management and implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the Programme Assistant include verifying planned movements and distributions of food or non-food items, resolving routine issues, and escalating concerns as necessary. The assistant will support planning for program implementation activities at the district level, coordinate information sharing with field and country office counterparts, and collect and summarize program data. Additionally, the role involves liaising with key stakeholders, suggesting improvements to field tracking processes, arranging regular meetings with community leaders, and providing standard training for cooperating partners. The Programme Assistant will also prepare field mission reports and perform other duties as required to support effective program implementation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed secondary school education, with a post-secondary certificate or degree in related fields such as Agriculture, Education, Community Development, Rural Development, or Environment being desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required, along with experience working in rural locations and with diverse populations. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with government partners are essential. A valid driving license and the ability to travel to project areas by motorbike are also necessary for this position.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate or degree in relevant functional areas such as Agriculture, Education, Community Development, Rural Development, or Environment is preferred, as it provides the foundational knowledge necessary for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five years of relevant working experience in community development, agriculture support, rural development, or school feeding programs. Experience working with technical teams and contributing to program implementation is also preferable, as it demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Lao is mandatory. The ability to speak ethnic group languages is considered an asset, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is a Service Contract (SC) for Lao Nationals only, with a duration of one year and the possibility of extension. The Programme Assistant will be based in Khong District, Champasack Province, and is expected to work full-time.
