DRC Lebanon aims to respond to critical emerging humanitarian needs while improving the living conditions of those affected by displacement and contributing to durable solutions. With an annual portfolio of approximately $12 million and a workforce of over 200 staff members, DRC is primarily focused on protection and economic recovery (Ec-Rec) sectors in regions such as Bekka, North Lebanon, and Beirut. Additionally, DRC is committed to enhancing the evidence base and coordination structures within the country through its Evidence Generation and Referral Information Management (RIMs) teams.

Job Overview:
The role of the community mobilizers is crucial as they will be responsible for conducting project location activities under the protection component. They will work to build trust within the community and foster positive relationships with community members. Acting as the main protection focal points within their designated areas, community mobilizers will be tasked with sharing protection concerns, safely identifying and disclosing individuals facing protection risks such as Child Protection (CP), Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and General Protection (GP), and referring these cases to the relevant DRC staff for follow-up. They will also conduct Community-Based Psychological Support Services (CB-PSS) activities, fill out individual surveys, and support awareness and sensitization activities within their communities. This position requires a proactive approach to community engagement and a commitment to the principles of protection and support for vulnerable populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The community mobilizers will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: attending capacity-building training sessions as requested by DRC; sharing protection trends and referring identified cases; regularly filling out surveys and assessments; supporting the facilitation of Focus Group Discussions; delivering CB-PSS activities to affected children and their caregivers; establishing and maintaining good relationships with targeted community members and stakeholders; ensuring regular reporting of protection activities; conducting awareness sessions and disseminating key messages among community members; and disseminating updated service mapping and referral pathways at the community level. These duties are essential for ensuring effective communication and support within the community, as well as for the overall success of DRC's protection initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the community mobilizer positions must adhere to DRC's code of conduct and demonstrate a commitment to preventing sexual exploitation and abuse. A good knowledge of the area and overall context is essential. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while a bachelor's degree in a related field such as social sciences, statistics, or data science is preferred. Previous experience with a humanitarian organization is also preferred, with a minimum of at least one year of relevant experience. Strong communication skills, a good understanding of protection and child protection principles, and the ability to work under pressure are critical. Candidates should possess good facilitation and sensitization skills, as well as an understanding of psychological first aid and a readiness to provide support as needed.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or equivalent as a minimum qualification. A bachelor's degree in a related field such as social sciences, statistics, or data science is preferred, as it provides a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of community mobilization and protection work.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of one year of experience working in a relevant field, preferably with a humanitarian organization. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to engage with communities, understand protection issues, and effectively communicate with diverse groups of people.

Languages:
While the job description does not specify mandatory languages, proficiency in English is essential for communication and documentation purposes. Knowledge of Arabic is likely to be beneficial, given the context of working in Lebanon and engaging with local communities.

Additional Notes:
The contract length for this position is three months, and it is classified as a volunteer role. Community mobilizers will not be considered DRC staff and will work on a voluntary basis. They will receive a lump sum of up to $200 to cover communication and transportation expenses while supporting the DRC team in the field.
