Job Overview:
The Violence Against Women Data and Knowledge Management Specialist will be a crucial member of the Asia and the Pacific Regional Gender-Based Violence and Harmful Practices team. This role is designed to lead efforts in managing regional violence against women data and research knowledge, ensuring effective donor reporting, and facilitating a vibrant, interactive regional Community of Practice (CoP). The specialist will be responsible for overseeing the transition and migration of the kNOwVAWdata community platforms, ensuring that knowledge management tools are modernized and accessible. The position also involves executing a dedicated strategy for the CoP's long-term sustainability, moderating online forums, and organizing peer learning exchanges among various stakeholders. The specialist will play a vital role in translating complex data into human-centered narratives and ensuring that the data collected is utilized effectively to inform policy and programming decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Violence Against Women Data and Knowledge Management Specialist include:
  • Leading the transition and migration of the kNOwVAWdata community platforms to a modernized environment with enhanced knowledge management tools.
  • Overseeing the regular updating and maintenance of community resources to ensure they remain current and relevant.
  • Executing a strategic plan for the Community of Practice (CoP) to ensure its sustainability and effectiveness.
  • Moderating online forums and facilitating technical working groups focused on emerging issues related to gender-based violence.
  • Planning and organizing regional learning webinars and peer exchanges to promote knowledge sharing among UNFPA Country Offices and other stakeholders.
  • Leading the drafting and editorial review of high-quality donor reports, ensuring compliance with communication guidelines.
  • Conducting research and interviews to document impact stories and lessons learned from VAW prevalence surveys.
  • Supporting the dissemination of new research and training opportunities through regular e-bulletins and publications.
  • Contributing to the strengthening of national capacities for ethical data production and use, promoting comprehensive VAW data ecosystems, and enhancing data literacy among policymakers and practitioners.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess a strong understanding of data management and knowledge sharing, particularly in the context of gender-based violence. They should have demonstrated experience in managing community platforms and facilitating peer learning exchanges. The candidate must also have excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and narratives that translate complex data into actionable insights. Additionally, the candidate should have a proven track record of working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and international partners.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in social sciences, public health, gender studies, or a related field is required for this position. The educational background should include a strong focus on research methodologies, data analysis, and knowledge management. Candidates with additional certifications or training in gender-based violence, data management, or related areas will be preferred.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in data management, knowledge sharing, or gender-based violence programming. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the UN system, is highly desirable. The candidate should also have a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as all reporting and communication will be conducted in English. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken in the Asia-Pacific region, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's suitability for the role.
