Job Overview:
The Protection Assistant (Medical) plays a crucial role in the provision of protection services under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader. This position is responsible for delivering timely and effective victim assistance (VA) services, which include identifying and following up on VA cases throughout their medical treatment. The assistant will coordinate the collection and review of necessary medical documentation from hospitals for each case. The role requires a proactive approach to ensure that individuals affected by conflict receive the medical support they need, prioritizing life-saving treatments and maintaining a high standard of care throughout the process. The assistant will also be involved in planning and reporting activities, ensuring compliance with DRC policies, and maintaining confidentiality regarding beneficiaries' information.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Assistant (Medical) has a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:

• Verification and Follow-up: Identify VA cases requiring urgent medical treatment, coordinate immediate life-saving support, verify hospital admissions, assess and refer cases needing additional support, and conduct daily follow-ups on beneficiaries receiving treatment.
• Planning and Reporting: Issue and collect medical reports for confirmed VA cases, ensure compliance with internal medical ceilings, prepare monthly treatment summaries, and submit regular updates and work plans.
• Coordination and Representation: Develop effective relationships with local and international NGOs, government authorities, and stakeholders, participate in sub-cluster meetings, and maintain positive team dynamics.
• Other Duties: Attend emergency calls for duty, adhere to DRC's Code of Conduct, and treat all beneficiaries with dignity and respect. The assistant must also be prepared to take on additional responsibilities as directed by the Protection Team Leader or Protection Manager.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the Protection Assistant (Medical) position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• Education: An associate degree in a medical field (Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, or a related field) is essential, with a preference for candidates holding a Medicine degree (MBBS).
• Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant experience, including at least two years working in a hospital setting.
• Skills: Strong negotiation and communication skills, excellent computer literacy (Word and Excel), and the ability to work independently and under pressure. Candidates should demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and a commitment to humanitarian work, with previous experience in international organizations being an advantage.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have an associate degree in a medical field, such as Medicine, Nursing, or Public Health. A Medicine degree (MBBS) is preferred, indicating a strong foundation in medical knowledge and practice, which is essential for effectively assisting victims of conflict-related injuries and coordinating medical support.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in a relevant field, with at least two years specifically in a hospital environment. This experience is crucial for understanding the medical processes involved in victim assistance and for effectively coordinating care for beneficiaries. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain composure under pressure, which are essential skills in a humanitarian context.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic (both reading and writing) is mandatory, as it is essential for communication with beneficiaries and local partners. Proficiency in English is also required, with a very good command of the language necessary for reporting and coordination with international stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The successful applicant will receive a contract until December 31, 2026, with the possibility of renewal based on funding and performance. The position is full-time, and candidates must be available to start work as soon as possible in Sa'ada. Salary and conditions will align with the Danish Refugee Council's Terms of Employment, and the position is classified at Band (I Non-Manager) reporting to the Protection Team Leader.
