Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, was established to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. The organization focuses on achieving universal access to sexual and reproductive health, realizing reproductive rights, and reducing maternal mortality. UNFPA aims to accelerate progress on the ICPD agenda, improving the lives of adolescents, youth, and women, while promoting human rights and gender equality. In 2018, UNFPA launched three transformative results: ending unmet need for family planning, ending preventable maternal death, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices. Innovation is recognized as a key accelerator for achieving these results, and UNFPA is committed to harnessing innovation to meet future challenges and enhance its impact, particularly for marginalized populations. The organization operates globally, with a focus on strengthening partnerships and leveraging technology to enhance its mission.

Job Overview:
The role of Online Volunteers is to support UNFPA's Communications Team in producing digital content that promotes campaigns, highlights program achievements, shares human-interest stories, and engages audiences across various platforms. Volunteers will assist in creating digital communication materials, including social media visuals, short videos, and other creative content, in collaboration with UNFPA communication focal points. This position offers volunteers the opportunity to gain practical experience working with a UN agency, enhance their digital communication portfolios, and contribute to awareness-raising efforts that support communities in the region. Volunteers will be assigned to specific teams based on their skills and interests, allowing them to focus on areas such as social media content creation, short video production, digital storytelling, and campaign communication support.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will be responsible for developing communication products tailored to their skills and interests. Each volunteer will complete a defined set of deliverables within one of the following areas: Team 1 (Social Media Content Creation) will require volunteers to develop 5-10 social media posts, including captions and visual concepts, design 5 social media graphics using tools like Canva, and adapt existing UNFPA communication materials into digital-friendly formats. Team 2 (Short Video Content Creation) will involve producing 2-3 short videos (up to 60 seconds each) for social media, supporting video editing, adding subtitles, and ensuring effective visual storytelling. Team 3 (Digital Storytelling and Web Content) will have volunteers drafting 2-3 human-interest stories or articles in English and/or Arabic, as well as editing and formatting communication materials according to UNFPA guidelines. Team 4 (Campaign and Event Communication Support) will require volunteers to share at least 10 communication materials on UNFPA campaigns through their social media channels and report on the reach during events, highlighting materials post-event.

Required Qualifications:
Volunteers should possess strong communication skills, creativity, and a passion for digital content creation. Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools is essential. Volunteers should be able to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. A background in communications, marketing, or a related field is preferred, along with a commitment to UNFPA's mission and values.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background in communications, marketing, media studies, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of digital communication strategies and tools, as well as experience in content creation and storytelling.

Experience:
While prior experience in digital content creation is beneficial, it is not mandatory. Volunteers should demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop their skills in a practical setting. Experience working with social media platforms and familiarity with graphic design or video editing tools will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable. Volunteers should be able to communicate effectively in both languages to create content that resonates with diverse audiences.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position, and the duration of the contract is not specified. The role is part-time and may require flexibility in working hours to accommodate project deadlines and communication needs. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work remotely, but they should be able to coordinate effectively with the UNFPA team and adhere to project timelines.
