Job Overview:
The GCF Liaison Officer for Seychelles will play a crucial role in enhancing the relationship between the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Seychelles government. This position involves coordinating with national stakeholders to identify and develop climate-related projects that align with GCF funding criteria. The officer will be responsible for facilitating communication between the GCF and local entities, ensuring that Seychelles effectively accesses climate finance. The role requires a deep understanding of climate change issues, project management, and the ability to navigate complex bureaucratic environments. The officer will also be expected to provide technical assistance and capacity building to local stakeholders, fostering a collaborative approach to climate action.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary liaison between the GCF and the Seychelles government, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
• Identify and assess potential projects for GCF funding, providing guidance on project development and proposal submission.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement and capacity building workshops to enhance understanding of GCF processes and requirements.
• Monitor and report on the progress of funded projects, ensuring compliance with GCF standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with national and international partners to promote climate finance initiatives and share best practices.
• Provide technical support in the formulation of national climate strategies and policies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical and communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. A solid understanding of climate finance mechanisms and project management principles is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate experience in policy development, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building in the context of climate change. Proficiency in project proposal writing and reporting is also required, along with the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in environmental science, climate change, public policy, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's competitiveness. Additional certifications in project management or climate finance will be considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate finance, project management, or environmental policy. Experience working with international organizations or government agencies on climate-related projects is highly desirable. Familiarity with the GCF's operational framework and funding processes will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication for the GCF. Proficiency in French or Creole is considered a valuable asset, as it may facilitate better engagement with local stakeholders and enhance communication effectiveness.
