Job Overview:
The UNFPA Representative is responsible for leading complex business units and country office teams in the design and implementation of population and development programs, particularly in the areas of sexual and reproductive health. This role involves working within the humanitarian-development-peace nexus to ensure that the organization's objectives align with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Representative will engage with various stakeholders, including governments, civil society, and international organizations, to advocate for policies that support the rights and health of individuals, especially those who are marginalized. Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or advanced university degree in disciplines such as Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, Public Administration, Management, or related fields. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to the principles of the United Nations and UNFPA, including integrity, cultural diversity, and a commitment to gender equality.
Educational Background:
A Master’s degree or advanced university degree in relevant fields is required. This educational background should provide a solid foundation in public health, international development, or related disciplines, equipping candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills to address complex population and development issues.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in public administration and international development, with a minimum of 7 years specifically in the fields of population and development, sexual and reproductive health, or humanitarian work at the international level. Experience in advocacy and policy dialogue, as well as field experience in developing or crisis contexts, is essential.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of any other UN language is considered desirable, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to UNFPA's global mission.

- Relationship Building: Establish and maintain institutional relationships with government counterparts, civil society, the private sector, and other stakeholders to galvanize support for UNFPA’s mandate.
- Program Management: Oversee the development and implementation of country programs, ensuring that they are responsive to national priorities and incorporate best practices in population and development.
- Resource Management: Manage international and national staff, providing strategic direction and fostering a culture of empowerment and growth.
- Advocacy and Representation: Engage in advocacy efforts to promote UNFPA’s agenda and represent the organization within UN Country Teams and other relevant forums.
- Program Oversight: Ensure compliance with UNFPA policies and procedures, and drive the application of results-based management frameworks.
