Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer for Graphic Design of Strategic Documents is integral to the UNDP's efforts in enhancing the visual presentation of strategic documents related to disaster risk reduction and adaptation in the Sahel region. The volunteer will be responsible for ensuring that documents are not only visually appealing but also adhere to UNDP's corporate branding standards. This role requires a strong understanding of graphic design principles and the ability to work collaboratively with the Communications Specialist and the Project’s technical team. The volunteer will be tasked with creating layouts for documents in three languages: English, French, and Portuguese, ensuring that all versions maintain consistency in design elements and quality. The ultimate goal is to produce publication-ready documents that effectively communicate the project's objectives and findings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteer will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong graphic design skills, with proficiency in design software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. A keen eye for detail and a strong sense of aesthetics are essential. Additionally, candidates should have the ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. Familiarity with UNDP's corporate branding guidelines is a plus, as is experience in designing documents for international organizations or NGOs.
Educational Background:
A background in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is required. Candidates should have completed or be in the process of completing a degree or diploma in graphic design or a similar discipline. Relevant coursework or certifications in design software will be advantageous.
Experience:
While prior experience in graphic design is preferred, it is not mandatory. However, candidates should demonstrate a portfolio of previous design work that showcases their skills and creativity. Experience working with international organizations or on projects related to disaster risk reduction and adaptation will be considered an asset.
Languages:
Proficiency in English, French, and Portuguese is mandatory, as the documents will be produced in all three languages. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not required.

- Infographics and Visual Elements: Improve existing graphics and icons or create new ones as necessary, ensuring readability, visual hierarchy, and overall design quality.
- File Preparation: Deliver a final PDF for web, a high-resolution PDF for print, and the editable source file (InDesign) for each of the three language versions.
- Revision and Finalization: Incorporate feedback from UNDP in one revision cycle and submit finalized, publication-ready versions of the documents.
