Job Overview:
The position of Implementing Partner for the Demonstration Public Space Intervention is centered around the Young Gamechangers Initiative (YGI), which aims to engage youth in transforming urban spaces through participatory processes. The selected partner will be responsible for executing a tactical urbanism project at Polideportivo La Grecia in Armenia, Quindío, Colombia. This role involves not only the physical transformation of the public space but also ensuring that the process is community-driven, environmentally sustainable, and inclusive. The partner will work closely with local stakeholders to facilitate community participation, ensuring that the intervention meets the needs and aspirations of the local population. The project is expected to last for three months, starting in August 2026, with a maximum budget of $42,000 USD.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Implementing Partner will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Preparing a detailed budget, work plan, and implementation schedule for the project.
• Procuring necessary materials and construction elements for the public space intervention.
• Implementing tactical and practical urbanism interventions in accordance with the approved designs.
• Coordinating with local authorities, contractors, and community stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of the project.
• Facilitating community participation activities to foster ownership and engagement among local residents.
• Ensuring compliance with local regulations, health and safety standards, and permitting processes.
• Documenting the implementation process and lessons learned for future reference and replication.
• Developing communication materials that highlight the project's impact, including before-and-after documentation and beneficiary testimonials.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Implementing Partner position should possess a strong background in urban planning, community development, or a related field. They should demonstrate experience in managing urban interventions, particularly those that involve community engagement and participatory processes. Familiarity with tactical urbanism principles and practices is essential, as well as a proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including local governments, community organizations, and youth groups. Strong project management skills, including budgeting and scheduling, are also required, along with excellent communication and facilitation abilities.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in urban planning, architecture, community development, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in participatory design, urban sustainability, or community engagement will be considered an asset. Candidates should also have a solid understanding of urban design principles and practices, as well as experience in working with marginalized communities.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three to five years of relevant experience in urban planning, community development, or project management. Experience in implementing community-driven urban interventions, particularly in a participatory context, is highly desirable. Candidates should have a track record of successfully managing projects from conception to completion, including budget oversight and stakeholder coordination.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the project will be conducted in a Spanish-speaking context. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be necessary for reporting and communication with UN-Habitat and other international stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the local community may be considered an advantage.
