Job Overview: The ET Consultant - Investment Accounting position is designed to support the Policy & Implementation - Investment Accounting sub team (CTRPI-IA) within the WBG Controllers (CTR). This role involves accounting analysis, evaluation, and implementation for complex loan, equity, and guarantee transactions. The consultant will work closely with investment officers and other staff in CTR to ensure accurate accounting practices are followed. The position requires the individual to identify transactions for review, allocate tasks within the team, and document the necessary information for accounting assessments. The consultant will leverage A.I. tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy in their work, demonstrating a strong understanding of accounting standards such as US GAAP and IFRS. The role is critical in ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial reporting, contributing to the overall mission of the WBG to promote sustainable development and reduce poverty.
Duties and Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the ET Consultant include leveraging A.I. tools to identify transactions for review, preparing and documenting investment structures, and performing accounting analyses for simple investment transactions. The consultant will engage in discussions with investment officers and team members to clarify information and gather additional details as needed. Continuous process improvement is a key aspect of the role, requiring the consultant to document and update Investment Accounting procedures related to significant influence factors, consolidation, and debt securities. Regular communication with supervisors and team members is essential to share key information regarding processes, timelines, and potential issues. The consultant will also assist in compliance testing and other assigned compliance activities, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and organizational policies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with a preference for those who have at least 2 years of relevant professional experience. An internationally recognized professional accounting qualification such as CPA, CA, or ACCA is advantageous. A basic understanding of accounting for financial instruments under US GAAP, particularly concerning consolidation and derivatives accounting, is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate excellent writing and data analysis skills, with the ability to convey key messages effectively. Strong A.I. skills and comfort with modern technology are essential, along with strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness. The ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality outputs within tight deadlines is crucial, as is the capacity to multitask and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with advanced degrees or additional certifications in accounting or finance may have an advantage. Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in accounting or finance.
