Job Overview:
The Protection Officer will be responsible for providing case management to individuals with specific needs, conducting psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support and counseling, and supporting outreach and awareness-raising activities targeting vulnerable populations. The role requires a strong commitment to best practices and international standards in case management, particularly for individuals at heightened risk, including women, older persons, and persons with disabilities. The officer will assess needs, develop action plans, conduct referrals, and ensure follow-up and case closure when appropriate. The position also involves collaboration with other DRC protection teams and external service providers to ensure access to relevant services, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring the safety and respect of affected populations throughout the case management process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Officer's main tasks include providing specialized case management and psychosocial support, conducting assessments of needs, developing action plans, and implementing follow-ups. The officer will identify individuals at heightened risk through home visits and referrals, provide individual counseling, and ensure timely filing and storage of case management data in compliance with data protection policies. The officer will work closely with other protection teams and service providers, prepare weekly and monthly work plans, implement monitoring and evaluation tools, and participate in supervisory meetings. Additionally, the officer will maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, contribute to service mapping, attend case conferences, and report any safety concerns to the Protection Team Leader.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in delivering specialized case management or counseling to people with specific needs. A Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field is required. Candidates should possess a good knowledge of case management principles, an understanding of disability and inclusion principles, and mental health-related matters. Strong communication and counseling skills, excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities, and computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel) are essential. Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings is considered an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of case management and the specific needs of vulnerable populations.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in delivering specialized case management or counseling services to individuals with specific needs. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to work effectively in a humanitarian context and provide support to vulnerable populations.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Additionally, proficiency in the local language is required to effectively communicate with the target population and provide appropriate support.

Additional Notes:
The contract length for this position is 8 months, with a start date anticipated in August 2026, pending donor approval. The position is classified as non-management, and the duty station is located in Bekaa. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals.
