Job Overview:
The ADB Financial Regulation, Consumer Law and Legislative Drafting Technical Assistant position is designed to support the development and implementation of financial regulations and consumer protection laws. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that legislative frameworks are robust and effective. The Technical Assistant will be expected to conduct research, analyze existing laws, and provide recommendations for improvements. This position requires a deep understanding of financial regulations and consumer rights, as well as the ability to draft clear and concise legislative documents. The successful candidate will work closely with legal experts and policymakers to facilitate the drafting process and ensure compliance with international standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive research on financial regulations and consumer protection laws in the region.
  • Analyze existing legislative frameworks and identify gaps or areas for improvement.
  • Draft legislative documents, including bills, regulations, and guidelines, ensuring clarity and compliance with legal standards.
  • Collaborate with legal experts, government officials, and stakeholders to gather input and feedback on proposed legislation.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing research findings and legislative proposals.
  • Assist in organizing workshops and training sessions for stakeholders on financial regulation and consumer law.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of new regulations and provide ongoing support to ensure effectiveness.
  • Stay updated on international best practices in financial regulation and consumer protection.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, consumer law, and legislative processes.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and reports.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with international standards and practices in financial regulation and consumer protection is an advantage.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in law, finance, public policy, or a related field is required. A master's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant area is preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in financial regulation, consumer law, or legislative drafting is required. Experience working with government agencies or international organizations is an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in Turkish is mandatory. Proficiency in English is highly desirable, and knowledge of additional languages is a plus.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role based in Van, Türkiye. The contract duration is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The position may involve occasional travel within the region.
