Job Overview:
As a Senior Investment Officer at ADB, you will play a crucial role in the Agribusiness Investment Team (AIT) within the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD). Your primary responsibilities will include providing technical support for the screening, due diligence, structuring, negotiation, implementation, and closing of direct debt financing, guarantees, equity investments, and technical assistance programs in food and agribusiness companies across ADB's developing member countries, with a core focus on Mongolia. You will lead project processing, transaction origination, and the handover of portfolio projects, ensuring compliance with internal guidelines and market best practices. Additionally, you will coordinate strategy and planning efforts with other teams and departments, and contribute to knowledge sharing within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field, with a preference for those holding a Master's degree or equivalent, or a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification. A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience is required, including at least 4 years in a supervisory role within corporate and project lending and equity investments, specifically in the food and agribusiness sector in Asia. Candidates should have a strong understanding of financial modeling, equity valuation, corporate and project finance, and other core banking and investment skills. Familiarity with ADB's policies and processes is advantageous.
Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in business administration or finance, with a preference for a Master's degree or equivalent qualifications. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification is also highly regarded, indicating a strong foundation in financial analysis and investment management.
Experience:
The position requires at least 8 years of relevant work experience, with a minimum of 4 years in a supervisory capacity. Experience in corporate and project lending and equity investments, particularly within the food and agribusiness sector in Asia, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of financial modeling, equity valuation, and corporate finance.
Languages:
Proficiency in both written and verbal English and Mongolian is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes:
This position is a local staff appointment open only to nationals and permanent residents of Mongolia. It is a fixed-term appointment with the option to renew for an initial period of up to 3 years, or until the Normal Retirement Date (NRD), whichever comes first. After the initial term, ADB may choose to renew the appointment based on various factors, including the staff's performance and the organization's needs. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Processing: Lead and provide technical support in identifying, developing, and processing transactions for ADB private sector direct agribusiness investment. Conduct comprehensive financial assessments, including analysis of audited financial statements, financial modeling, credit ratings for debt transactions, and valuations for equity transactions. Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and market best practices while managing risks effectively. Draft concept papers and ADB Board documentation.
- Transaction Origination: Develop a pipeline for ADB private sector direct agribusiness investment by identifying potential debt or equity transactions with strong developmental impact and robust financial profiles. Maintain active relationships with food and agribusiness companies, financiers, and advisors in the region, particularly in Mongolia.
- Handover of Portfolio Projects: Coordinate the handover of portfolio projects from AIT to PSOD's Portfolio Management division, ensuring timely and complete transfer of documentation and knowledge associated with transactions.
- Strategy and Planning: Collaborate with other PSOD teams and departments on project-related and strategy policy matters, supporting project processing and synergies with the Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development Sector Office.
- Knowledge Sharing: Participate in learning events and contribute to knowledge building by drafting and reviewing project and policy papers related to private sector development and operations, particularly in the agribusiness sector.
