Job Overview:
The Knowledge Management Specialist plays a pivotal role in coordinating knowledge management strategies within the Volunteer Advisory Services Section (VASS) of UNV. This position involves generating and sharing credible knowledge, managing essential platforms, and ensuring that insights are captured and utilized effectively. The Specialist will lead the development of a Knowledge Management Strategy and Work Plan, aligning with UNV's strategic priorities. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance the visibility of UNV's work and promote the integration of volunteerism into policies and plans. The Specialist will also be responsible for outreach and knowledge exchange, contributing to the UNV Knowledge Portal, and developing analytical materials that support advocacy efforts.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in fields such as Information Science, Knowledge Management, research, or communications. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in these areas, along with two additional years of qualifying experience, will be considered. A research degree is also advantageous for this position.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in research and knowledge management for candidates with a master's degree, or 7 years for those with a bachelor's degree. Experience must include demonstrated application of research methodologies and familiarity with development programming, particularly related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, working knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, or Russian, is considered a strong asset and is highly desirable for effective communication within the UN system.

This position is remote and is open to candidates from various tiers within the UNDP/UNCDF/UNV framework. The successful candidate will hold a UNDP NPSA contract. - Lead the coordination of knowledge management initiatives and advocacy efforts, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the Knowledge Portal's content.
- Develop a comprehensive Knowledge Management Strategy and Work Plan in collaboration with relevant units.
- Engage in systematic approaches to identify and promote key evidence for advocacy.
- Review and recommend improvements to current knowledge management systems and tools.
- Contribute to outreach and knowledge exchange through the UNV Knowledge Portal and online events.
- Develop and write content for analytical materials, including strategic notes and blogs.
- Identify opportunities for policy-oriented launches of research findings and engage in relevant knowledge events.
- Plan and implement external knowledge brokering events to promote UNV's initiatives.
- Provide support to regional offices and field units in optimizing knowledge tools. 1
- Ensure quality control of knowledge products and develop tracking systems for referencing and citation.
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Information Science, Knowledge Management, research, or communications is required.
- A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the mentioned areas, combined with two additional years of qualifying experience, will also be considered.
- A research degree is an advantage.
