Established as part of the United Nations system, UNFPA operates in over 190 countries, working closely with governments and partners to advance the rights and well-being of young people. In Pakistan, UNFPA collaborates with the Government and various stakeholders to enhance access to education, health, protection, and meaningful participation for youth. The UN Resident Coordinator's Office (UNRCO) in Pakistan plays a pivotal role in coordinating the UN's efforts to support the Government in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, focusing on amplifying youth voices and priorities through joint initiatives.

Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer for International Youth Day 2026 involves supporting the design and delivery of a Youth Video Challenge aimed at engaging young Pakistanis. Volunteers will create original video content that reflects their experiences and aspirations, aligning with the theme 'Different Contexts, Common Aspirations'. This initiative seeks to highlight the diverse realities faced by youth in Pakistan while connecting their aspirations to a global context. Volunteers will work closely with the UNFPA Pakistan Communications team, UNICEF Pakistan, and UNRCO to ensure that the content produced resonates with the campaign's objectives and engages a wide audience across various social media platforms. The role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in digital storytelling and advocacy while contributing to the visibility of youth priorities on both national and global stages.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create one short original video (30-90 seconds) on the theme 'Different Contexts, Common Aspirations', reflecting personal experiences and aspirations as a young person in Pakistan.
  • Ensure the video addresses one or more of the three IYD 2026 sub-themes: Global Solidarity, Shared Challenges, and Youth Innovation.
  • Post the video on personal social media platforms using the campaign hashtag #YouthkiAwazPK and the official hashtag #YouthDay2026, tagging @UNFPAPakistan, @UNICEFPakistan, and @UNinPakistan.
  • Coordinate with UN communications focal points on content guidelines, posting schedules, and messaging consistency.
  • Support outreach efforts to peer networks, youth groups, and universities to encourage broader participation in the challenge.
  • Provide raw video files and consent/release forms for videos selected for reposting on official UN social media platforms.
  • Engage constructively with comments and audience interactions generated by posted content during the campaign period.
  • Participate in a virtual orientation in the first week of the campaign, conceptualize the video in the second week, produce the video in the third week, and submit a final post-publication report in the fourth week.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong interest in youth issues, digital storytelling, and advocacy.
  • Basic knowledge of video production and editing techniques.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and their engagement strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.
  • Commitment to the campaign's objectives and willingness to engage with diverse audiences.

Educational Background:
While specific educational qualifications are not explicitly stated, a background in communications, media studies, social sciences, or related fields would be beneficial. Volunteers should possess a strong understanding of youth issues and the ability to convey messages effectively through digital media.

Experience:
No prior experience is required for this volunteer position, but any experience in video production, social media engagement, or youth advocacy would be advantageous. The role is designed for individuals who are enthusiastic about contributing to youth empowerment and have a passion for storytelling.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and content guidelines will be provided in English. Proficiency in Urdu is also highly desirable, as it will facilitate engagement with local audiences and enhance the relatability of the content created.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position with a defined timeline for participation. Volunteers will engage in a structured campaign over four weeks, with specific tasks assigned for each week. The role is part-time and remote, allowing flexibility in participation. Selected videos will be shared on official UN social media channels, providing volunteers with exposure and recognition. There are no financial compensations, but volunteers will gain valuable experience and connections within the UN system.
