Job Overview:
The position of WHO Programme Officer - System Developer focuses on enhancing the District Health Information System (DHIS2) to improve health data management and surveillance for communicable diseases and noncommunicable diseases in Bangladesh. The incumbent will work closely with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and various stakeholders to develop, customize, and optimize DHIS2 modules. This role is critical in ensuring that health information systems are robust, integrated, and capable of supporting evidence-based decision-making. The officer will also be involved in training national and sub-national staff on the use of DHIS2, ensuring that the system is user-friendly and effective in capturing health data. The overarching goal is to strengthen the health information architecture to support national health priorities and improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the WHO Programme Officer include designing, configuring, and customizing DHIS2 modules for priority diseases, incorporating updated case reporting forms, and developing necessary data elements and validation rules. The officer will support the integration of communicable disease and noncommunicable disease reporting systems, provide technical support for program monitoring dashboards, and develop user manuals and standard operating procedures. Additionally, the officer will troubleshoot system issues, ensure compliance with national digital health standards, and conduct training sessions for staff on DHIS2 functionalities. Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong technical expertise in DHIS2 configuration and customization, along with a solid understanding of health information systems. Educational Background:
A degree in health informatics, computer science, public health, or a related field is required. Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in health information systems, particularly in the context of public health. Experience working with DHIS2 or similar health information systems is essential. Languages:
Fluency in Bengali is mandatory, as it is the official language of Bangladesh. Proficiency in English is also required, as it is the working language of UN agencies.
