Job Overview:
The Project Implementation and Coordination Support Consultant will play a crucial role in the successful execution of the 'Enhancing the role of municipalities to accelerate SDG Localization' project. Under the guidance of the Local2030 Coalition Secretariat Team Lead, the consultant will ensure effective coordination of project activities, timely delivery of outputs, and strengthened engagement with Coalition stakeholders and partners. The consultant's responsibilities will include monitoring and reporting on project activities, facilitating local and regional engagement, and supporting the dissemination of knowledge and policy products that aid municipalities in advancing SDG Localization. The consultant will also document project results and lessons learned to inform the work of the Local2030 Coalition and its partners, ultimately contributing to improved access to knowledge and evidence-based solutions for local policy processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including:
  • Knowledge and Policy Products Duties: Serving as the focal point for developing knowledge and policy products, coordinating the preparation of Terms of Reference, managing procurement and contract processes, and ensuring timely delivery and quality assurance of project outputs.
  • Engagement Processes, Events, and Knowledge Mobilization Duties: Supporting the implementation of engagement processes by coordinating consultations and dialogues, organizing high-level events and workshops, documenting engagement activities, and systematizing locally driven solutions.
  • Knowledge Management, Communication, and Promotion Duties: Managing project documentation, developing communication materials, and ensuring consistent messaging across platforms.
  • Project Implementation and Coordination Duties: Coordinating the project workplan, facilitating collaboration with stakeholders, managing operational processes, identifying implementation challenges, and preparing strategic project documents. The consultant will be responsible for delivering progress reports, engagement activity reports, and final project achievement reports, among other deliverables.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in public affairs, political science, social sciences, development studies, or other relevant fields. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A minimum of 2 years of experience in project implementation support, including monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and managing online shared folders, is required. Experience in organizing global events and meetings with multi-stakeholder participation, as well as advocacy experience, is also necessary. Demonstrated administrative and operational support experience is desirable.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in relevant fields such as public affairs, political science, social sciences, or development studies is required. A first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.

Experience:
At least 2 years of relevant experience in supporting project implementation, including monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and managing documentation. Experience in organizing global events and meetings with multi-stakeholder participation is essential, as is experience in advocacy and promoting project outputs through online platforms and social media.

Languages:
Fluency in English and German is required for this consultancy. Knowledge of another UN official language is considered an asset.

The position is expected to last for 9 months. The consultant will work under the guidance of the Local2030 Coalition Secretariat Team Lead.
