Job Overview:
The position of IC Gender and Social Inclusion Expert is crucial for advancing gender equality and social inclusion initiatives within the framework of UNDP's projects in Pakistan. The expert will be responsible for providing strategic guidance and technical expertise to ensure that gender and social inclusion considerations are integrated into all aspects of project planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role requires a deep understanding of gender issues, social dynamics, and the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and community groups. The expert will also be expected to conduct assessments, develop action plans, and facilitate training sessions to build capacity among project staff and partners. The overall goal is to enhance the effectiveness and impact of UNDP's interventions by ensuring that they are inclusive and responsive to the needs of marginalized groups.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct gender and social inclusion assessments to identify barriers and opportunities for marginalized groups in project areas.
  • Develop and implement strategies to integrate gender and social inclusion into project design, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams on gender-responsive programming and social inclusion practices.
  • Facilitate training and capacity-building workshops for project staff and stakeholders on gender and social inclusion issues.
  • Collaborate with local partners and stakeholders to promote gender equality and social inclusion initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of gender and social inclusion interventions and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare reports and documentation on gender and social inclusion activities and outcomes.
  • Stay updated on national and international best practices related to gender and social inclusion.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven expertise in gender and social inclusion issues, with a strong understanding of the socio-cultural context in Pakistan.
  • Experience in developing and implementing gender-responsive policies and programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using gender analysis tools and methodologies.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in gender and social inclusion will be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in gender and social inclusion work, preferably in the context of development projects. Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Urdu or other local languages is an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is 93 working days spread over 11 months, commencing from the date of signing the contract. This is a consultancy position, and the expert will be expected to work on a part-time basis. The position is open to both national and international candidates, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
