Job Overview: The UNDP Internship offers a unique opportunity for individuals to gain practical experience in various portfolios within the Country Office, including Environment and Livelihoods, Governance and Advocacy, Communications, and Finance. Interns will be involved in research, documentation, data management, and administrative support, contributing to the overall mission of UNDP in Bhutan. The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in sustainable development, governance, and project management, allowing interns to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to meaningful projects. Interns are encouraged to specify their preferred team or position in their application, which will help align their interests with the needs of the organization. Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: conducting desk research on topics related to climate resilience, governance, and sustainable development; compiling and organizing project documents; assisting in drafting reports and presentations; supporting the planning and logistics of workshops and events; managing data collection and entry; processing financial transactions; maintaining financial records; developing content for communication products; and performing any other duties assigned by supervisors. Interns will also engage in monitoring project progress and contribute to knowledge management efforts, ensuring that all activities align with UNDP's branding and communication guidelines.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from a relevant degree program, such as Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, Public Policy, or Communications. Applicants should demonstrate strong research, analytical, and communication skills, with proficiency in English and Dzongkha. Organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks are essential. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and online meeting tools is required, while knowledge of graphic design tools is an advantage. A demonstrated interest in sustainable development and UNDP's work is also important.
Educational Background: Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements: be enrolled in a degree program (bachelor's or higher), be in the final year of a bachelor's degree, or have graduated within the last year. Relevant fields of study include Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Development Studies, Public Administration, and related disciplines. Preference will be given to candidates whose academic background closely aligns with the specific internship position.
Experience: While prior experience is not mandatory, any relevant internships, volunteer work, or academic projects related to sustainable development, governance, or communications will be considered an asset. Interns should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges in a professional environment.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of Dzongkha is also required. Additional language skills may be considered an advantage, particularly in the context of engaging with diverse stakeholders and communities.
