Job Overview:
The School Principal position at UNRWA involves overseeing the educational environment and ensuring the delivery of quality inclusive education services to all students in the assigned school. The incumbent will report to the Area Education Officer and will be responsible for supervising both professional and general services staff. The role requires leading ongoing professional development for staff, managing pupil registration and record-keeping, and ensuring effective communication with parents and the community. The principal will also be tasked with creating a safe and effective learning environment, implementing monitoring and evaluation practices, and maximizing the potential of all students. This position is critical in shaping the educational landscape within the UNRWA framework and requires a commitment to the agency's policies and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the School Principal include:

• Leading professional development initiatives for all staff, evaluating training needs, and facilitating participation in external training.
• Managing the delivery of inclusive education services in accordance with UNRWA policies.
• Developing communication mechanisms to engage parents and the community in educational quality monitoring.
• Overseeing school management tasks such as pupil registration, budgeting, and resource utilization.
• Creating and maintaining a safe and effective learning environment.
• Implementing monitoring and evaluation practices to assess student performance and educational quality.
• Performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited institution in a relevant educational field, along with at least one year of professional teacher training. Alternatively, a higher diploma or advanced degree in education is acceptable. Desirable qualifications include an advanced degree in a related subject and professional training relevant to educational leadership.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in an appropriate school-related subject from an accredited institution. Candidates should also have completed professional teacher training or possess a higher diploma or advanced degree in education. This educational foundation is essential for effectively managing the educational environment and leading staff development.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible teaching experience. This experience should include involvement in various educational activities, such as teaching, training, or educational leadership roles. Additionally, candidates are required to disclose any outside activities that may relate to their professional qualifications, including freelance work, board memberships, or public speaking engagements.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is mandatory, with English being required at UN Level II for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is considered a good-to-have language but is not mandatory. Candidates must demonstrate their language skills according to the UN Language Framework.

Additional Notes:
The appointment for this position is a Fixed Term Appointment for one year, including a one-year probation period, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The position is classified at Grade 15, with a monthly basic salary of USD 1,592.60, payable in Jordanian Dinars at the UN monthly exchange rate. Additional benefits include a monthly Provident Fund contribution, compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and a dependency allowance if applicable. The position is open only to internal candidates residing in the West Bank or Jerusalem, and the agency will not facilitate work permits. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates from underrepresented genders to promote gender parity.
