Job Overview:
The State Engagement Lead for the Type 1 Diabetes Program at WJCF will be responsible for driving on-ground program implementation aimed at strengthening the delivery of Type 1 Diabetes services across public health facilities. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the state’s public health system, governance structures, and barriers to care. The State Engagement Lead will design and operationalize program interventions, shape the implementation model, and facilitate effective stakeholder engagement to ensure high-quality and sustainable care delivery. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional interpersonal skills, be flexible, and demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in program execution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The State Engagement Lead will lead WJCF's Type 1 Diabetes program with state government stakeholders, ensuring alignment on ongoing interventions and proposed new initiatives. Responsibilities include building and maintaining trust-based relationships with senior officials in the Department of Health, expediting approvals to drive program momentum, and supporting government budgeting and planning to ensure sustained access to essential drugs and diagnostics for T1D management. The Lead will develop the program strategy and implementation plan, oversee day-to-day program implementation, support district-level roll-out and monitoring, strengthen the capacity of health staff through training and mentoring, represent WJCF in state-level technical working groups, coordinate with other development partners, identify risks to implementation, and support the design of systems for managing programmatic data. Additionally, the Lead will develop presentations, progress narratives, and reports for stakeholders and travel within the state as required.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in any domain, with a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in a demanding, results-oriented environment. They should demonstrate the ability to manage large projects, project design, and team management, as well as experience working with government stakeholders and familiarity with the Indian public health system. The ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously is essential. Advanced proficiency in project management tools and maintaining complex accountability trackers is required, along with excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi. Preference will be given to candidates who are versed in local languages or dialects.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in any relevant field is required for this position. The educational background should ideally align with public health, management, or related disciplines that equip the candidate with the necessary skills to manage health programs effectively.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, particularly in managing large projects and working in a results-oriented environment. Experience with government stakeholders and familiarity with the Indian public health system is crucial for success in this role.
Languages:
Proficiency in English and Hindi is mandatory for this position. Candidates who are familiar with local languages or dialects will be preferred, as this will enhance communication and stakeholder engagement within the communities served by the program.
