The Editorial Officer will play a crucial role within the Refugee.Info Italy project team, which is dedicated to providing asylum-seekers, refugees, and migrants in Italy with accurate, timely, and useful information regarding their legal rights, essential procedures, and available services. The position is centered around a peer-to-peer approach, ensuring that the information generated and disseminated is tailored to the needs of the communities served. The Editorial Officer will be responsible for leading the editorial direction of the platform, driving information campaigns related to the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, tracking relevant legal procedures and services for refugees and migrants in Italy, and producing and updating multimedia content. Additionally, the role involves maintaining the Refugee.Info Italy Facebook page and website, ensuring that the information provided is both accessible and engaging for the target audience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Editorial Officer's duties will include developing bespoke and engaging multimedia content for the Refugee.Info Italy digital platforms, adhering to Signpost editorial standards that emphasize client-centered framing and clear next steps. The officer will lead the creation and implementation of an information campaign focused on the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, which will involve creating a dedicated section on the website and producing related content. Collaboration with the R.I. Project Manager and Moderation Lead will be essential to identify information needs, develop an editorial calendar, and plan advertising campaigns. The officer will also research training opportunities and initiatives relevant to migrants and refugees for publication on Refugee.Info channels. Under the supervision of the R.I. Project Manager, the Editorial Officer will manage and maintain the website and social media channels, build audiences for ads, promote content through advertising campaigns, and ensure a strong online presence. Coordination with the Signpost technical and development team will be necessary to facilitate the smooth operation and development of the Refugee.Info platforms. Participation in team meetings across R.I., IRC Italy, and Signpost will also be required.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in communication, development communication, social sciences, law, or a related field. They should demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills, along with high proficiency in technology and software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional, Google products, and various social media platforms. Proficiency in infographic software and/or experience in graphic design is also required. Additionally, candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in the fields of asylum and migration, media and communications, preferably within an NGO context. A solid understanding of services, procedures, and legal frameworks relevant to the migration and asylum context in Italy is essential. The ideal candidate will be a strong collaborator with effective interpersonal and analytical skills, capable of working seamlessly across cultures and organizational units. Analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A genuine commitment to migration, asylum, and protection issues is also expected.
Educational Background:
