Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent in Communications, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Change Management, or a related field is required for this position.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have significant experience, specifically 8-10 years, in employee communications, HR communications, or internal communications, particularly within a global context. Experience in managing communications for large-scale organizational changes is highly preferred, as well as familiarity with nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
Languages:

Job Overview:
The Associate Director, People & Culture Communications, is a pivotal role within the Global Communications team at FHI 36
- This position is responsible for developing and executing strategic HR communications programs and campaigns aimed at inspiring, engaging, informing, and aligning the global workforce. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the employee experience and organizational culture by designing people-first communication journeys across various HR programs and transformation initiatives. The role requires a strategic thinker who can craft compelling narratives around complex people initiatives and is willing to actively participate in execution. Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Communications, this advanced individual contributor role will also serve as a member of the People & Culture leadership team, providing results-oriented counsel to the leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary communications partner to the Chief People Officer (CPO) and provide strategic counsel to P&C leadership on how communication can shape and enable HR programs and employee experience.
- Develop and execute multi-channel communication plans supporting key HR programs and initiatives, including performance management, total rewards and benefits, talent development, organizational design, and employee engagement.
- Translate complex HR policies and changes into clear, compelling messaging for a diverse global workforce.
- Collaborate with Internal Communications to align on organizational strategy messaging and integrate HR communications into the broader communication mix.
- Lead change management communications that build leadership capability and foster collaboration across the organization.
- Advise P&C leaders on communication strategies for new programs and transformation initiatives, and train P&C Partners on change communication principles.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and External Communications to enhance the organization's employer brand and employee value proposition.
- Develop presentations, briefing materials, employee messages, talking points, FAQs, toolkits, leader guides, and board-level content for P&C.
- Manage editorial calendars and content workflows to ensure timely delivery of HR campaign communications. 1
- Lead employee listening activities, analyze trends, and provide recommendations to strengthen engagement and culture. 1
- Coordinate global P&C staff meetings and employee engagement forums, preparing agendas and materials.
Required Qualifications:
- 8–10 years of experience in employee, HR, or internal communications, with a proven track record of developing and executing measurable, multi-channel strategies within a global organization.
- Advanced knowledge of strategic employee communications, change communications, and stakeholder management, with a solid understanding of core HR programs.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex information into clear messages for diverse audiences.
- Strong executive communications skills, including the ability to develop presentations and board-level content for senior leaders.
- Proven ability to influence without direct authority and build effective relationships across a global organization.
- Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Strong project management skills, capable of managing complex initiatives and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
