Job Overview:
The Green Skills and Curriculum Development Specialist (TVET) will play a crucial role in integrating environmental education into the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) curriculum. The incumbent will be responsible for developing strategic approaches that align course content with environmental policies and sustainable development frameworks. This position requires the development of a comprehensive curriculum that incorporates green skills across various TVET programs, ensuring that specialized modules are informed by labor market trends. The specialist will also create interactive training materials and teaching resources to support the development of green skills among trainees, preparing them for sustainability-focused career pathways. Additionally, the role involves facilitating capacity-building workshops for TVET instructors, promoting awareness of green skills, and developing policies related to sustainable environmental practices within educational settings. The specialist will conduct labor market assessments to identify emerging green job roles and skill demands, ensuring that academic programs are aligned with evolving employment opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the integration of greening education into the TVET curriculum by developing strategic approaches that align course content with environmental policies and sustainable development frameworks.
• Develop a comprehensive curriculum that integrates green skills across TVET programs, embedding specialized modules aligned with TVET specializations and informed by labor market trends.
• Create interactive training materials, teaching resources, and toolkits to support green skill development.
• Formulate practical learning outcomes that support the integration of green skills into academic curricula and training programs.
• Facilitate capacity-building workshops and training sessions for TVET instructors to enhance the delivery of green curriculum content.
• Promote awareness and understanding of green skills and workplace environmental impacts in collaboration with instructors and administrative staff.
• Develop and update policies and procedures related to green skills and sustainable environmental practices across TVET settings.
• Support green skills-gender integration efforts within project frameworks.
• Conduct labor market assessments to identify current and emerging green job roles and skill demands. 1
• Collect and analyze data to forecast growth in green sectors and pinpoint priority areas for curriculum development. 1
• Lead, manage, coordinate, and develop effective activity planning, implementation, and monitoring for the project. 1
• Maintain records and create reports on curriculum development progress, resolving implementation challenges. 1
• Prepare regular project reports to monitor progress and ensure alignment with project objectives. 1
• Document lessons learned, best practices, and actionable recommendations. 1
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in research, qualitative and quantitative analyses, and report writing. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds are essential. The candidate should be independent, capable of establishing priorities in a time-sensitive environment, and meeting deadlines with attention to detail. Skills in designing comprehensive training programs and delivering engaging educational content tailored to diverse audiences are required. Knowledge of standard MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is necessary, along with an in-depth understanding of green skills, sustainability, and circular economy practices within the private sector. The ability to conduct field visits is also important.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Environmental Studies, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a relevant related field is required for this position.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 4 years of experience working with green competencies and jobs or in environmental training programs. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years' experience in curriculum design, instructional development, or educational planning is required. Experience in TVET systems, ideally with exposure to multiple sectors such as energy, construction, and renewable energy, is also necessary. Experience in conducting training-of-trainers (ToT) and capacity building of staff is required.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is mandatory. English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, but for this job opening, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in English and Arabic according to the UN Language Framework.

Additional Notes:
This position is a daily paid assignment for up to nine months, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability, satisfactory performance, and ongoing need. The monthly basic salary is $902.70, which may be subject to a reduced work schedule. Candidates residing in Syria and within commuting distance of the duty station with authorization to work in Syria are eligible to apply. The Agency will not facilitate the issuance of work permits in Syria, and without a valid work permit, the appointment may be rescinded. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates from underrepresented genders to assist the Agency in achieving gender parity.
