Job Overview:
The Safeguarding Coordinator plays a crucial role in defining and leading the implementation of a Safeguarding Strategy tailored to the specific context of Yemen or Syria. This position involves a comprehensive approach to strengthening the detection, prevention, and reporting of abuse within the organization. The Safeguarding Coordinator will work closely with the country-level team to assess the needs and develop strategies that are context-specific. The role requires mentoring field management teams to enhance their capacity to prevent and detect all forms of abuse, ensuring that safeguarding measures are integrated into all aspects of the organization's operations. The Safeguarding Coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating and monitoring the work plan of the safeguarding team, which may include Safeguarding Focal Points, supervisors, and Behaviour officers, ensuring that all team members are aligned with the safeguarding objectives and are effectively contributing to the overall strategy.

Required Qualifications:
Educational Background:
A degree in social work, psychology, international development, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in safeguarding or child protection are highly desirable. Continuous professional development in safeguarding practices is also encouraged.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in safeguarding, protection, or related fields, preferably within humanitarian or development organizations. Experience working in conflict-affected areas is an advantage. Proven track record of mentoring and training staff on safeguarding issues is essential.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable, given the context of Yemen and Syria. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region would be considered an asset.
Additional Notes:
This position may involve travel to various field locations within Yemen or Syria. The role is expected to be full-time, and the organization is open to recruiting internationally. Compensation and benefits will be commensurate with experience and organizational policies.
