The Investment Officer position at the EIB is a pivotal role within the Operations Directorate, specifically in the Equity, Growth Capital, and Project Finance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for originating, monitoring, and managing equity-type co-investment operations. Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree (minimum equivalent to a Bachelor) preferably in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is required, which includes direct or indirect equity and/or quasi-equity investments, assessment, structuring, and execution of investments, or monitoring and management of investment portfolios. Experience in collaborating with a wide network of stakeholders in an investment environment is essential, and familiarity with innovation-intensive, digital, infrastructure, climate, or energy-related sectors would be advantageous. Candidates should also have excellent knowledge of various financial structures/products and related legal aspects, as well as a good understanding of the EIB's mission and activities.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree, ideally in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering, or another related discipline. This foundational education is crucial for understanding the complexities of investment operations and the financial landscape in which the EIB operates.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience. This experience should encompass direct or indirect equity and/or quasi-equity investments, as well as the assessment, structuring, and execution of investments. Additionally, candidates should have experience in monitoring and managing investment portfolios, which is critical for the successful execution of the Investment Officer's responsibilities.
Languages:
Proficiency in English and/or French is mandatory, with a good command of the other language. Knowledge of additional EU languages would be considered an advantage. As both English and French are official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both is essential for future career development within the organization.
Additional Notes:
This is a full-time position at grade 5, and the EIB offers a permanent contract. The role requires regular office presence at the EIB headquarters in Luxembourg. The bank provides relocation support for candidates moving to Luxembourg. The anticipated timeline for panel interviews is September 202

- Transaction execution: Ensuring the timely delivery of co-investment operations while adhering to EIB policy objectives and maintaining high standards of risk assessment and due diligence.
- Deployment, investment assessment, and portfolio monitoring: Supporting the deployment of existing co-investment facilities, assessing individual co-investment opportunities, and overseeing existing co-investments throughout their investment period until their transfer to Portfolio Management and Monitoring (PMM).
- Product and process development: Assisting in the design and implementation of new operating models, templates, procedures, platforms, and other initiatives related to equity and quasi-equity co-investment activities.
- Stakeholder engagement: Managing interactions with internal and external counterparts, fostering strong relationships and effective collaboration across the investment ecosystem.
- Reporting and compliance: Contributing to the implementation of relevant reporting tasks, processes, procedures, methodologies, systems, and working tools, ensuring their proper application.
- Innovation: Developing innovative practical approaches to complex operational issues to expedite approval, blending, and disbursement processes.
