Job Overview:
The Protection Assistant - Child Protection - Case Management position is crucial for implementing child protection services in Tripoli, Libya. The role involves responding to the urgent humanitarian needs of children at risk of exploitation, violence, abuse, and harm. The DRC aims to establish Child Friendly Spaces that provide essential prevention activities, including awareness-raising and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support. The Protection Assistant will be responsible for executing child protection case management activities in alignment with DRC’s Child Protection Policy and the Child Protection Minimum Standards. This position requires creating an enabling environment for community-based child protection activities and ensuring the effective implementation of DRC’s Protection Strategy for Libya. The successful candidate will work closely with the Protection Team Leader and other stakeholders to ensure that the needs of children are met and that they are protected from harm.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Assistant will have a wide range of duties and responsibilities, including:

• Implementing child protection case management in accordance with DRC’s policies and standards.
• Participating in training and ongoing coaching to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Providing direct services, including psychosocial support, in collaboration with the Protection Team Leader and other specialists.
• Facilitating referrals for children at risk, ensuring adherence to DRC’s policies.
• Conducting activities that align with the evolution of the Child Protection program as directed by the line manager.
• Engaging with community members to identify protection concerns and facilitate meaningful dialogues.
• Maintaining data confidentiality and ensuring accurate data entry for case management.
• Collaborating with monitoring and evaluation teams to assess program effectiveness.
• Representing DRC to various stakeholders, ensuring professional standards and transparent communication. 1
• Supporting logistical, administrative, and financial coordination of program activities as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 1 year of professional experience in humanitarian interventions, particularly in child protection or related fields. Experience in child protection case management is preferred, along with familiarity with international protection and human rights standards. Candidates should demonstrate the competencies outlined in the Child Protection in Humanitarian Action framework and have the ability to effectively represent DRC to communities and stakeholders. Proficiency in MS Office applications is also required.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Social Sciences, Sociology, Community Development, Communication, Humanitarian Affairs, or a related field is required. An educational background specifically focused on working with children is preferred, as it aligns with the responsibilities of the position and the needs of the target population.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 1 year of relevant experience in humanitarian work, particularly in child protection. Experience in related fields such as Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and General Protection will also be considered valuable. The candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of child protection principles and practices, as well as the ability to work effectively in challenging environments.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is mandatory, as it is essential for communication with the target population. A good working knowledge of English is also required, as it will facilitate collaboration with international staff and stakeholders.
