Job Overview: The Chronic and Infectious Diseases Implementer will play a crucial role in providing technical, strategic, programmatic, and clinical support to the OCA field missions and headquarters. The position focuses on the implementation of programs for chronic diseases, including Non-Communicable Diseases, HIV, Tuberculosis (including drug-resistant strains), and Hepatitis. The implementer will be responsible for ensuring high-quality implementation support tailored to the specific contexts of the missions. This role also involves contributing to the development and updating of MSF's intersectional policies, strategic frameworks, guidelines, and advocacy efforts related to chronic and infectious diseases. The implementer will support training and mentoring of field team members, resolve complex clinical issues, and contribute to research projects, ensuring that the activities are effectively translated into operational plans and objectives for the field teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality implementation support for medical and operational strategies related to chronic and infectious diseases.
Contribute to the updating of MSF's policies and guidelines on chronic diseases.
Support training and mentoring of field team members to implement revised health programming.
Develop and influence key relationships within the MSF movement and with external health program stakeholders.
Resolve complex clinical issues while considering the risks and benefits for patients and the organization.
Support research projects and disseminate findings to enhance program effectiveness.
Formulate and contribute to country annual plans for chronic and infectious disease activities.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams to ensure effective program implementation.
Participate in the appraisal and performance review process to support salary increases and professional development.
Required Qualifications:
Medical doctor with demonstrable postgraduate experience.
Valid registration with a relevant professional body.
Demonstrable chronic and general clinical knowledge and experience in humanitarian settings.
Proven experience in managing and implementing chronic care health programming.
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
Experience in teaching and coaching others.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Networking and representation skills with solid interpersonal abilities.
Attention to detail and accuracy in organizational and communication tasks. 1
Previous experience working in lower- and middle-income settings. 1
Proficiency in the use of personal IT equipment and Microsoft Office 365 suite.
Educational Background: The position requires a medical degree and relevant postgraduate qualifications that demonstrate expertise in chronic and infectious diseases. Continuous professional development and training in humanitarian health programming are also advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have substantial experience in clinical practice, particularly in chronic disease management within humanitarian contexts. Experience in program implementation and the ability to work in challenging environments are essential. Previous roles should demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on training and mentoring others.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory. Additional language skills may be beneficial, particularly in languages relevant to the regions where MSF operates.
Additional Notes: This is a fixed-term position for 14 months, specifically covering maternity leave. The role is hybrid, requiring two days per week in the office, including Wednesdays. The working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The salary range is between £61,531.29 and £75,204.91 per annum, with annual salary increases subject to performance reviews.
