Job Overview: The National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM) is organizing the 2026 National Youth Summit, which aims to be a high-impact platform for investment, partnership-building, and scalable solutions that contribute to youth employment and innovation in line with the Malawi 2063 vision. To achieve a professional and cohesive brand identity for the summit, NYCOM requires high-quality visual materials for both online and offline publicity campaigns. The designs produced will be utilized across all NYCOM online channels, in partner communications, and during the summit itself to enhance visibility and impact. The role involves collaborating with the Media and Publicity Committee to create design proposals for a variety of digital and print materials that will effectively communicate the summit's objectives and engage the target audience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Media and Publicity Committee to understand the design requirements for the National Youth Summit.
Develop design proposals for a range of digital and print materials, including but not limited to posters, flyers, social media graphics, and banners.
Ensure that all designs align with NYCOM's branding guidelines and effectively communicate the summit's themes and messages.
Revise designs based on feedback from the Media and Publicity Committee to ensure the final products meet the desired standards.
Prepare final design files for production and distribution, ensuring high-quality output for both digital and print formats.
Assist in the development of a cohesive visual identity for the summit that resonates with the youth audience and stakeholders.
Stay updated on design trends and best practices to bring innovative ideas to the project.
Strong portfolio showcasing previous design work, particularly in the context of events or youth-related initiatives.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Understanding of branding principles and the ability to create designs that align with organizational goals.
Educational Background: A degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Communication Design, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
Experience: Previous experience in graphic design, particularly in creating materials for events, campaigns, or youth-focused initiatives, is highly desirable. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in a similar context will be an advantage.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, as all communications and materials will be produced in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Malawi would be an added advantage, as it may enhance engagement with the youth audience.
Additional Notes: This position is for two (2) Online Volunteers, indicating that it may be a remote opportunity.
