Job Overview:
The IDB Country Office in the Bahamas is seeking an active undergraduate student for a paid internship opportunity. This internship is designed for university students from member countries to gain insights into development work and corporate management within the Bank. The intern will engage in on-the-job learning, supporting the office's resource planning, administration, and coordination functions. The role involves assisting with meeting and event planning, vendor management, internal communications, and general office administration. The intern will work closely with the Resource Planning and Administration Specialist and other team members to ensure smooth office operations and successful event delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for various tasks, including:
  • Meeting and event coordination: Assisting with logistics, venue arrangements, catering coordination, participant follow-up, and related administrative tasks for internal meetings, workshops, and office events.
  • Vendor and office support: Communicating with vendors, following up on outstanding requirements, assisting with service requests, and supporting the office's general administrative needs.
  • Internal communications and coordination: Preparing and circulating monthly calendars, office-wide notices, meeting materials, and follow-up communications to facilitate coordination across the Country Office.
  • Records and documentation management: Organizing digital and physical records, maintaining administrative files, and supporting the tracking of invoices, correspondence, and office requests.
  • Administrative and logistical support: Providing assistance for special assignments, staff engagement initiatives, visitor support, and other operational activities as required to support the effective functioning of the Country Office.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen or legal resident of the Bahamas.
  • Active student: Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program as of the internship's starting date, with a graduation date after the internship period.
  • Consanguinity: Must not have family members working at the IDB or IDB Invest up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse.
  • First job at the IDB Group: Must be a first-time participant in an Internship Program held by the Bank or IDB Invest, and should not have been a former staff member or contractor for the Bank or Corporation.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be an active undergraduate student in finance, accounting, business administration, marketing, or a related field at an accredited university. It is essential that the graduation date is not prior to the last day of the internship, ensuring that the student is still actively pursuing their degree during the internship period.

Experience:
The position is designed for undergraduate students, so prior professional experience is not mandatory. However, any relevant experience in administrative roles, event coordination, or similar fields would be advantageous and could enhance the candidate's application.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is required for this position. A working knowledge of Spanish, which is one of the Bank’s additional official languages, is preferred but not mandatory. This bilingual capability could be beneficial in facilitating communication within the diverse environment of the IDB Group.

  • The intern is expected to work 40 hours weekly during this period.
