Job Overview: The position involves supporting the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office in analyzing and enhancing the usability of data reported by countries regarding the action plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). The role provides an opportunity to apply data analysis skills to significant global health challenges while collaborating with WHO experts and regional professionals. The focus will be on extracting, cleaning, and structuring data from the WHO TrACSS platform, generating analytical outputs, and summarizing findings to inform public health strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities: The selected online volunteers will work under the guidance of the Acting Regional AMR Adviser and will be responsible for several key tasks:
Extracting data from PDF files submitted by countries to the TrACSS platform.
Cleaning and structuring datasets for selected indicators to ensure data integrity and usability.
Generating analytical outputs, including tables and visualizations, to present the data effectively.
Summarizing key findings in concise reports that highlight trends and insights.
Comparing current data with previous years for the same variables to identify changes and patterns.
Creating a data dashboard to visualize the findings and facilitate easier access to information.
Documenting the workflow to support capacity building and future use of the analysis methods.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess a background in public health, microbiology, epidemiology, veterinary science, engineering, nursing, medicine, or related fields. They should demonstrate strong analytical skills, proficiency in data management, and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment. Familiarity with data visualization tools and experience in public health data systems will be advantageous.
Educational Background: A degree in public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in data analysis or public health informatics will be considered a plus.
Experience: Candidates should have relevant experience in data analysis, preferably within the public health sector. Experience working with health data systems and familiarity with AMR issues will enhance the candidate's suitability for this role. Previous involvement in similar projects or volunteer work in health-related fields is also beneficial.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the Eastern Mediterranean Region may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
