Job Overview:
The Caseworker position is designed to provide trauma-informed services to refugees and other qualified immigrants, ensuring they have a positive resettlement experience and achieve self-sufficiency. The Caseworker will work closely with clients to develop tailored service plans that address individual needs and preferences. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the various resources available to clients, including financial, medical, social, and vocational services. The Caseworker will be responsible for conducting intake assessments, developing self-sufficiency plans, and providing ongoing support through direct services and advocacy. The position also involves collaboration with colleagues and external partners to ensure clients receive the necessary support and resources to thrive in their new environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Caseworker's responsibilities include coordinating pre- and post-arrival services to ensure clients have access to essential living needs such as housing, food, medical care, and transportation. The Caseworker will conduct intake services to assess client needs and develop individualized self-sufficiency plans. They will provide direct support through referrals and advocacy, monitor client progress, and document interactions according to program requirements. The role also involves inputting client information into databases, collaborating with coworkers and partner organizations, and building relationships with local service providers. Additionally, the Caseworker may be responsible for training and leading volunteers and interns, and performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Caseworker position should possess a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field. Relevant professional experience in the human services sector is required, with a minimum of 2 years of experience strongly preferred. Experience working with refugee and immigrant populations is also highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong relationship-building skills, diplomacy, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks are essential for success in this role.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field is preferred for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding the complexities of social services and the needs of clients from diverse backgrounds.

Experience:
The position requires relevant professional experience in the human services field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience strongly preferred. Candidates should have a demonstrated history of working with refugee and immigrant populations, which will enhance their ability to provide effective support and services to clients.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages spoken by IRC clients, such as Spanish, French, Arabic, Dari, Farsi, and/or Pashto, is highly desirable and will be considered an asset in effectively communicating with clients from diverse backgrounds.

Additional Notes:
This position is represented by the OPEIU union and is subject to the terms and conditions of a collective bargaining agreement. The working environment includes a combination of standard office settings, remote work, and field time within the service delivery area. The role may require occasional weekend and evening work. The position has an end date of July 31, 2027, and offers a competitive compensation range of $26.50-$27.50 per hour for US-based candidates.
