Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is based in New York and offers flexible work arrangements, including full-time, part-time, hybrid, remote, or in-person options. Interns will support a variety of functions related to the OCHA-managed Pooled Funds, which include the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) and the Country and Regional Humanitarian Funds. The role involves preparing analyses, background materials, talking points, and key messages. Interns will engage with stakeholders and contribute to drafting reports, briefings, policy guidelines, and official communications for donors and senior management. This position provides an opportunity to participate in all aspects of the Pooled Fund Management Branch under the guidance and supervision of a designated supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a range of duties, including: preparing or contributing to various written reports, documents, and communications; drafting sections of studies, background papers, policy guidelines, briefings, case studies, and presentations; preparing background information, talking points, and key messages related to OCHA’s Pooled Funds for senior management briefing materials; supporting outreach and dialogue with key stakeholders, including other UN agencies and NGOs; reviewing and providing support on policy issues related to OCHA’s Pooled Funds; participating in work groups, meetings, conferences, and consultations with other agencies and partners on oversight and compliance matters; maintaining internal databases and updating contact lists; and performing other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes either enrollment in or completion of a graduate school programme or completion of the final academic year of a first university degree programme. This indicates that candidates should have a strong academic foundation relevant to humanitarian affairs, international relations, or a related field.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic knowledge and skills that align with the responsibilities of the internship. Experience in humanitarian work, research, or policy analysis would be beneficial but is not a strict requirement.

Languages:
Fluency in English (Level II) is required for this position, as it is one of the official working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Additionally, knowledge of French (Level 1) is also required, reflecting the bilingual nature of the UN's operations.
