Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
UNICEF is a leading humanitarian and development agency that has been working globally for the rights of every child for nearly 70 years. The organization focuses on ensuring that children have access to safe shelter, nutrition, protection from disaster and conflict, and essential services throughout their life cycle, including pre-natal care, clean water, sanitation, healthcare, and education. UNICEF's mission is to advocate for children's rights and improve their lives, particularly for the most disadvantaged. The agency operates in numerous countries worldwide, collaborating with governments, civil society, and development partners to achieve its goals.

Job Overview:
The Economic and Social Policy (ESP) Global Practice within UNICEF is a technical team dedicated to addressing issues related to Child Poverty, Social Protection, Public Finance for Children, Cash-Based Assistance, and Youth Livelihoods. The ESP team is responsible for producing a variety of technical knowledge products, capacity-building materials, and public-facing communications aimed at government counterparts, development partners, civil society, and practitioners globally. To enhance the visibility and dissemination of its work, the ESP Global Practice is seeking four online volunteers with professional graphic design skills to assist in creating high-priority knowledge and training products. These materials will focus on social and behavior change programming, gender-responsive social protection, and capacity-building resources, ensuring they are polished, accessible, and aligned with UNICEF's corporate visual identity. Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit samples of their work to demonstrate their capabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected online volunteers will have specific tasks assigned to them based on their expertise. One volunteer (Volunteer 1) will be responsible for proof-reading and designing three case studies, each consisting of five pages, totaling 15 pages, that highlight the added value of Social and Behavior Change (SBC) in Cash+ and/or Universal Child Benefits programs. Additionally, this volunteer will design a compendium of best SBC practices and recommendations for mainstreaming SBC in these programs, which will be five pages long, and create a framework for SBC in Cash Transfer Programs, including a programmatic checklist, indicators, and survey questions, spanning 20 pages. Two other volunteers (Volunteer 2 and Volunteer 3) will focus on designing materials for UNICEF's Gender-Responsive and Inclusive Social Protection Capacity-Building Training, which includes four modules (approximately 100 slides each), a workbook (around 80 pages), and four facilitator guides (approximately 10 pages each). Lastly, the fourth volunteer (Volunteer 4) will be tasked with revising the design of the UNICEF Lessons Learned Study, which is expected to be around 100 pages long. All design work must adhere to UNICEF's corporate design guidelines, which will be provided to the volunteers prior to commencing their tasks.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess professional graphic design skills and experience in creating visually appealing and effective designs for public-facing products. They should have a strong understanding of design principles and be able to work collaboratively with the ESP team to produce high-quality materials. Familiarity with UNICEF's mission and values, as well as experience in designing for social impact, will be considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should be proficient in using design software and tools necessary for the tasks at hand.

Educational Background:
While specific educational qualifications are not explicitly stated, a background in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate their design expertise through a portfolio of previous work that showcases their skills and creativity in producing professional-grade materials.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have prior experience in graphic design, particularly in creating layouts and designs for reports, training materials, and other public-facing documents. Experience working with organizations focused on social issues or humanitarian work will be beneficial, as it will provide context for the type of materials being developed.

Languages:
While the job description does not specify mandatory languages, proficiency in English is likely essential due to the nature of the work and the target audience. Additional languages may be considered an asset, especially if they align with the regions where UNICEF operates.

Additional Notes:
The position is voluntary and does not specify a contract duration, seniority level, or whether it is full-time or part-time. As this is a volunteer role, compensation details are not provided, but volunteers may gain valuable experience and contribute to meaningful projects that impact children's lives globally. The recruitment is open to individuals regardless of their location, as the work can be conducted remotely.
