Job Overview:
The logistics-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Officer (Field Office Head of Logistics) position is critical in managing logistics operations within the Bentiu and Renk Field Offices in South Sudan. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Field Office and functionally to the Country Office Head of Logistics. This role involves leading the logistics hub, overseeing prepositioning exercises, and ensuring effective support for Cash-Based Transfers (CBT) operations and On Demand Services (ODS). The Logistics Officer will be responsible for managing and developing the logistics team, ensuring timely dispatch of food commodities, and monitoring risks that may affect food deliveries. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with other logistics officers to ensure operational excellence across the field offices. The candidate will also engage with local authorities and stakeholders to facilitate smooth logistics operations and contribute to the overall mission of WFP in addressing food insecurity in South Sudan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Logistics Officer include but are not limited to: leading and managing the logistics team in the Bentiu and Renk Field Offices, ensuring effective prepositioning exercises, overseeing the implementation of supply chain processes, monitoring risks affecting food deliveries, collaborating with other logistics officers, maintaining operational excellence in logistics activities, ensuring adherence to assurance measures, conducting regular meetings to discuss pipeline forecasts and available stocks, pursuing On Demand Services, defining the scope of logistics projects, establishing coordination with Country Office Logistics, gathering market intelligence, managing retail/wholesale relationships, identifying risks affecting CBT delivery, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and undertaking regular field visits. The Logistics Officer will also be responsible for addressing operational challenges and providing strategic inputs for reports and meetings.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Transport, Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses is acceptable. The position requires a strong understanding of logistics operations, supply chain management, and humanitarian assistance. Candidates should demonstrate leadership skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to teamwork. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also required.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Transport, Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or Business Management is required. For candidates with a bachelor's degree, additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses will be considered. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding logistics and supply chain management in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of three years of progressively responsible international professional experience in commercial or humanitarian transportation sectors for those with a master's degree. For those with a bachelor's degree, at least five years of relevant experience is required. Experience in managing Cash-Based Transfers (CBT) operations, emergency operations, and multimodal transport is essential. Proven capacity in relationship building with government and other stakeholders, as well as experience in warehouse and commodity management, is also required. Supervisory experience and the ability to build national staff capacity are important for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English (level C) is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, but English proficiency is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is a Regular International Consultancy (CST level 1) with a duration of 11 months, renewable subject to performance and funding. The role is based in either Bentiu or Renk Field Office, South Sudan, and candidates may choose to apply for one or both duty stations.
