Job Overview: The Expert in Institutional Relations and Strategy will play a crucial role in supporting the Program Manager in coordinating the activities of the Consultative Committee (CC) within the UPU. This position involves a multifaceted approach to institutional relations, member relations, and business outreach, with a focus on developing strategies that align with the UPU's goals. The Expert will be responsible for drafting agendas, documents, and reports, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among CC members, and supporting the integration of the CC within the UPU's institutional framework. The role requires a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement and the ability to manage various tasks simultaneously, contributing to the overall success of the CC's initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Institutional Relations and Strategy: Support the Program Manager in developing and implementing the CC's strategy, monitor deliverables, and ensure alignment with UPU's institutional architecture. Draft agendas and reports, and serve as the focal point for CC matters during UPU sessions.
Members Relations and Business Outreach: Develop tools to monitor member feedback, manage events, and oversee communication strategies. Represent the CC at events to recruit new members and follow up with prospects.
Financial, Legal and Internal Management: Assist in drafting and monitoring the budget, track membership fee payments, and ensure compliance with UPU regulations. Optimize internal workflows and coordinate the training of interns.
Competencies: Demonstrate professionalism, ethics, teamwork, and a focus on results while managing multiple tasks and maintaining confidentiality.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, project management abilities, and a proven track record of working collaboratively in diverse teams. They should be capable of handling sensitive information appropriately and demonstrate a strong client orientation. The role requires a commitment to ethical standards and the ability to drive change and improvement within the organization.
Educational Background: A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in International Relations, Political Science, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field is mandatory. An advanced-level university degree is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the position.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the sector of private-public partnerships is required for candidates with a first-level university degree. For those without a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is necessary. Experience within the UPU or another UN agency is desirable, providing candidates with a deeper understanding of the organization's operations and objectives.
Languages: Proficiency in either English or French is required, as these are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Candidates should demonstrate a minimum level of proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in the chosen language, with a working knowledge of the other language being desirable.
Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term appointment for one year, with a scheduled start date as soon as possible. The annual salary is set at 56,046 USD, with a post adjustment of 90.7%, subject to fluctuations due to currency exchange rates. The selected candidate will participate in the UPU Provident Scheme and will be insured against risks of sickness and accidents. The contract may be renewed based on performance and funding availability, but there is no guarantee of extension or conversion to another type of appointment.
